  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Absolutely! He provided an example of endurance under duress since he faced persecution and many trials which tested his Christian mettle.

That's why he wrote the following way in his letter to the church in the city of Philipi.
I agree. Romans 5:3-5 goes well with 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, in my opinion.

You're not GOD though. You can suggest and offer your opinions but in the end, it is HIS WORD that has authority over all our suggestions and opinions

Again, I'm not claiming to be God, and I do see and know of good people, we have to agree to disagree on this one ....

That is also known as the Stockholm syndrome. I don't bow down to a tyrannical mafia boss.
Father. The best. Who provided a WAY for all HIS disobedient children to come to HIM

You must be better than all of us

So you think that the precious and cost GIFT of HIS SON can be passed up and treated as a secondary option?

As I said, I don't believe in that, thats what makes me an Atheist, do you not get it?

I know how your mafia boss operates. He leaves the obedient people alone but kills and tortures the ones that are disobedient.
I fail to see how that is moral though.

That only makes sense to those who believe in it, people of other faith have their own holy scripture to rely on, and they believe in it as much as you do
How do you think those who believe in it believed in it?

Don't you understand that there are those who have literally heard HIS VOICE and call?

No HE doesn't

By the way, please identify for us the obedient since THE WORLD already says that HE has turned all over to disobedience

So that all mouths will be silenced on that day and no man can profess himself

Will you tell GOD that HE made a mistake?

There are many pastors that preach the prosperity gospel today in megachurches and live like a rockstar,....the message of the bible is highly dependent on the preacher....

This is true. Probably why I don't watch the Christian TV stations very often. Plus, a lot of the preachers have a eschatology that I don't agree with. John Hagee and Jack Van Impe being examples one and two. They rub me the wrong way whenever I do happen to catch them.

The scriptures lead me, and i dont see prosperity doctrine in scripture. I see love and sowing to the spirit. The apostle Paul says that godliness is not about gain, and the Lord said we will have treasure in heaven. I dont think heaven uses money. The scriptures say that we cannot take money with us.
Ironically, despite biblical indications to the contrary, when Protestantism emerged in conjunction with the industrial revolution material prosperity in this life became indicative of a reward or blessing from God while poverty, or lack of material prosperity, became indicative of God's disapproval or as a curse. I see that mentality in certain churches today where the emphasis is placed more on getting rich than it is on gaining salvation via Jesus' Ransom Sacrifice.

what do you think this means:

To be just when HE judges and the justifier of all whose faith is in HIS SON

Do you think anyone will stand before GOD and profess their obedience apart from GOD's GIFT of HIS MERCY and GRACE(unearned unmerited favor) found most visibly and clearly IN HIS SON whom HE gave for the sins of the world?

They believe in whatever they were told to believe in, and if everyone heard his voice and call, everyone would be Christians, and there wouldn't be any need for missionaries

Why do you think that people born in the middle east are most likely to be Muslims? and people born in Thailand tends to be Buddhist? Could it be that their parents are followers of that particular faith? And taught their kids to believe in that religion?

Sure and there are people who heard HIS VOICE and drowned their children because HIS VOICE commanded it.

Don't believe everything you hear because there are hallucinations and delusions.

Here's how your god operates:

"Nice life you got there, would be a shame if I had to send you to hell for eternity. But don't worry I have a solution, believe in and worship Jesus and I won't send you to hell." - God

I have observed people shaming the poor, by questioning their faith. I don't agree with that.

On the flip side, you have those who criticize the rich or people who are better off financially, saying they're nothing but greedy.

Shaming the poor and criticizing the wealthy are both extremes, on polar ends of the spectrum.

I'm fine with people who believe in whatever they want to believe in,....its only when they want to imposed their prefered lifestyle on others based on their religious believes that I take issue with

Interesting point. I'll need to meditate on that.
