October 10th, 1985 for me. I don't remember too much about the 80s, although we were raised behind the curve of the current pop culture so we essentially got all the 80s stuff in the early 90s.
Flintstone Kids, Rubik's Cube, Vinyl records, Betamax, etc. I didn't really get into 80s music until I was about 11 or 12, though, since growing up my parents generally listened to the 70s, Classic Rock, and Oldies stations. I remember a lot of the 90s music that was popular as I was growing up but didn't really start listening to a lot of it (mainly Grunge and Post-Grunge) until I was in high school. Stuff that was on the radio from about '96 on I listened to when it was current (boy do I miss some of that stuff).
Unfortunately, I do remember when Achy Breaky Heart was new and everywhere. Even scarier is the realization that that's the year his daughter was born - things come full circle, I guess, although I'd argue that seeing Hannah Montana crap everywhere is far worse than what that song ever achieved.
On a different note, most good Goth Rock and Industrial was recorded before 2000, although there's a number of notable entries in the time since.
And the Sci-Fi Channel's Saturday Anime feature that'd air at 9 or 10 in the morning. Gall Force, Venus Wars, 8 Man After, etc. I was a fan of it since then, which I think is why I don't get a lot of the hype that newer fans have over programs that are all the rage now. I just take that as a sign of seniority.
I do remember the Sega 32X and the Sega Channel - one of my friends had the Sega Channel; can't remember if he had the 32X, though.

One thing our Social Studies teacher told us when we were in 8th grade was that my class (the class of '04; this was back in 2000, though) was probably the last class that would have memories of the First Gulf War. And I do in fact remember news of it going on, along with Desert Storm and video of mortar shelling in Israel during that time (although I can't remember where it was in Israel that was getting shelled in 1990/1991). I remember the presidential election as well.

Actually, save for Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Doug (although after it was picked up by Disney/ABC), and Tom and Jerry, I didn't watch any of those - my parents had an unreasonable hatred of Nickelodeon shows during that time.

SE-GA! They just don't make commercials like they used to. We had the NES and SNES for ages - I finally got the Genesis when they were being fazed out (I chose it over an N64, partially because I wanted a stereo as well and if I got the N64 I wouldn't have gotten the stereo either). We never did get an N64, but for me it was no major loss - video games haven't really been the same since the switch to 3D.

I actually have the gray brick with the yellow screen, and the carrying case that could hold a whopping four games. I also had the power adapter so you wouldn't have to continuously run through scores of AA batteries. Go Kirby's Dream Land.
The submissions that really stick out in my memory from that show are two parodies, actually - the Jurassic Pork video and Pigeon Tonight. Speaking of which, how many remember the actual Chicken Tonight ads?
