hispanics are a race - no one is accusing a race

ms13 is a dangerous murderous mafia-like gang - all of us are opposed to the gang

why do yall equate ms13 with hispanics when we don't?

I lived in the neighborhood my husband grew up in. It had gone from a family blue collar neighborhood to primarily latino. A lot of the adults did work hard. But their kids were left home and gangs moved into our neighborhood, actually ironically a subset of MS 13. One of my neighbor's daughter told me how they were trying to get her to "claim" a gang a school. She was in 3rd grade (and I gave her a ride to AWANAS on Wednesdays and helped her study her verses). My BIL's truck had two bullet holes in the side from a drive by during one night (he lived next door to us). I moved my bed away from the window after that and the kids weren't allowed to sleep in our room (theirs was on the back of the house). The sweet old lady across the street had her driveway tagged...we never were sure if it was a tag of protection or if it marked her house as target because her grandson lived there periodically (he was a gang member). My kids could never ride their bikes around the block because we were worried what could happen to them when they were out of our sight and they could only ride their bikes when one us was outside in the front yard. All my grocery flyers went from coming in English, to biligual, and eventually they were primarily in Spanish. I served as the team mom for my son's Little League team and had to talk to young children on the phone who translated messages about practices and team information to the adults. And I had no one to talk to on the bleachers when watching the game. I do know several of the mothers were saying unflattering things about me "behind my back" because I did understand enough spanish to get the gist of what they were saying. Yes, my son's coach was Latino and a great man. One of our neighbors was very nice but even he was upset that his wife (an illegal from Hondoras) hadn't bother to learn English even though she had lived there 7 years ... and he was fluent along with her young daughter being fluent. And our neighborhood was full of houses illegally remodeled to house 10-15 adult men instead of families...or illegal additions to house second or third families living in a single family dwelling. I didn't look back when we finally did move out of that neighborhood even though it was initially a good place to live. Life was not better for the Latino families once the gangs moved in. They weren't living the "American dream". They were caught in a cycle where they could never become legal and they could never afford to move their kids out of the gang ridden neighborhoods here that they left their own counties to escape.

On the flip side, my immigrant friends who came in legally were able to move into "good neighborhoods", get good jobs, and provide futures for their kids. Some come from less that ideal backgrounds but live good lives here as LEGAL citizens and take great pride in the day they got US citizenship. One family even celebrates their Citizenship day annually because they value being here.

this is an awesome testimony of the benefits of legal entry into the usa

so really the lives of the illegals were no better - the gangs of their homeland illegally transplanted with them?

Yes...and sadly, it was often them that brought the gang affiliations with them as they provided ways for their illegal family members to follow them.

I remember one house around the corner that was known to be a "drug house" knocked out the big picture window in the front of their house and replaced it with a cinder block wall (that didn't match the house) ... and only had a small peep hole in it. We were all amazed as we watched the construction. I guess the city actually intervened because a few months later the brick "picture window" was knocked out and the house was vacated. However, it was never fixed to be visually acceptable after that even when a window was put back in.

are you saying some of them left their country and then made a way for their gangland family members to join them?

and others left their country to escape the gangs?

Does he have an immigration lawyer and trying his best to become a legal resident or leagle citizen?

And stayed out of all trouble while here in the States?

If so we wish him well.

I know a lot of people that have lived here for many years but, for some reason never started the process to become legal. It's a good time for all that qualify to do that.

Because if they start the process they are required to leave and then apply? The DACA kids want to become citizens but they are being kept from doing that?

Yes to the first statement. The legal immigrants left their countries for a variety of reasons but all to make a better life for themselves and their families. Because they weren't illegal, they could get decent jobs and not leave their children unattended for long hours.

I do think that many of the illegals that I knew really did want to make a better life....but their kids were the ones who were making our neighborhood become unsafe because they brought their culture of violence with them and they gravitated to other illegals when the were dropped into our culture not knowing the language.

This is why the old DACA laws are not in the favor of the illegal aliens. They never allow them to become citizens or get the benefits of citizenship. If we want to grandfather the true DACA adults, then find a way for them to actually become citizens. However, stop providing a way to make kids basically countryless by bringing them in illegally and letting them stay here and know no other home.

If Trump wants the border wall & is as rich as he brags about being, he can help pay for the dang thing himself. Most of prototypes have been failures.

Trump's Wall Worries Are Drifting Towards a Full-On Meltdown
he has to run the country - fix the trade deals - fire up the economy - get rid of terrorists - make world peace by sanctions rather than war or bribes - and pay for the wall himself?

i think it's about time politicians started doing something - otherwise we might as well impeach them all so trump can get things in good shape without their obstructionism

any good thing that has happened seems to be single handed by trump -

really - what have the career politicians done but fool around squabbling and making msm soundbites?

That would be the Dream Act which was first brought in a bill sponsored by Durbin, a Dem. and Hatch, a Rep. in 2001. They have never been able to get it through the Congress. So here we are 17 yrs. later....

He needs to focus on what the country needs to be run well. Not what he or his base wants. Not Twitter time.

The border wall is asinine. Border security is needed but the wall that he is wanting is not.

the border dwellers know the border wall is brilliant

he twitters to get the news to people immediately since msm gives him no credit for what he is really doing

twitter won him the election because he circumvented msm

he knows better than any career politician what the country needs - he is successful at many things -

politicians are successful at soundbites and talk

Video shows border wall construction underway in Texas

We hope they get working on the wall real soon here in Southern California. Just the other day ICE went out and picked up a whole lot more of MS-13 gang members. Once deported we need to be sure they don't get back in. Some have already been deported numerous times but -- easily yet returned.

These ones do not wish to
Make America Great Again.

I thought they already started it in your part of the country back last winter.

Don't believe it San Diego wants it.
M-Bob

I don't believe that you speak for all the folks in San Diego, Bob. Now sure you speak for yourself & for your goats up on that mountain. San Diego County officials said that Trump was telling a whopper when he claimed they'd asked him to start building the wall. The mayor has repeatedly called for "building bridges not walls."

i trust christian sources which contradict pbs -

i checked out pbs material on trump in the past and they don't say anything positive -

and they do not promote God or biblical values - iow they have an agenda i disagree with -

Then post a reputable, fact-based Christian source that contradicts the two sources I gave to you.

What is the simple solution? (And I don't know that protecting a country's border is a simple problem)

Build a good fence and defend it. How simple is that?

Edit: Just saw a piece on tv about the existing walls. They work!

Crossing the border THEN trying to do it right ISN'T the right way to do it. We don't have open borders. The right way is to come in legally... It isn't easy but I don't think it is easy to change citizenship into any country. Your friend is working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year? Why would he want to be here? That isn't a life.
He's here on a work visa I'm guessing and he DIDN'T cross the border illegally and hasn't overstayed his visa or anything like that. I only know a little about his life outside the US, so I can't really say what it was like for him before, but I would guess he appreciates the higher pay and freedoms we have here despite having to have a difficult job. In fact, tons of immigrant workers have factory night jobs, because they're some of the only people willing to do that work. Why? It must be better here than where they came from. I don't know how else you could explain it.
