Twelve Ordinary Men (by John MacArthur)

Who's Who in the Bible: An Illustrated Biographical Dictionary (by Reader's Digest)

John MacArthur is very good. He has written a lot of good things; and his radio talks are widely listened to.

Reader's Digest may give some helpful factual information, but remember that its editorial stance would not be committed to a stance acknowledging the Divine inspiration of Scripture.

Several of my favorites are fiction: The Narnia Chronicles (C.S. Lewis), Descent Into Hell (Charles Williams), A Canticle for Leibowitz (Walter Miller).
