Jim M.....
Ironically, sometimes, in our feeble efforts to not quench the Spirit we, in fact, do that very thing.

What do you think.
Jim, what I think is today, our focus alot of the times is on the Minister. Waiting to see something coming from him alone. I think truly that God wants to manifest His presence to all those that walk into it. I remember that when this was taking place, no focus was on anybody, but what God was doing. We need to get our eyes off of man, is what I think. What do you think? LOL.

Somewhere in the midst of all of this particular discussion, we soon will run across the subject of AVAILABLITY. If we do not make ourselves available to the Holy Spirit, why should we expect Him to move into the focal point of our lives, services, evangelistic efforts, etc. at all?

I'm not disputing this at all, we should not be stuck on manifestations, but I was just curious why the difference, and it being manifested in mass years ago. So can we assume, that back then when this was common place, people we're more receiving of the Holy Spirit, than they are today? Well I guess that was a dumb question on my part. Of coarse, this must be the case.

So what about the one that aren't theatrics?

It would appear that God does indeed bless people this way. Like anything else there can sometimes be counterfeits, but that doesn't mean God didn't do the real thing first.

I agree with those suggesting a mint if you're going to try it though! :)

Blessings, Susana

I take it that this was not in an Anglican Church?;)

You're right Andy! I was at a multidenominational gathering away from home.

You'd be surprised what goes on in some Anglican churches mind you...

I'm still praying for a fresh move of the Spirit here. God loves Anglicans too!

God bless, Susana

But the tangibility of the Presence of God still occurs where there are people hungry for HIM and HIM ALONE.

Do we sit in Daddy's lap to get the candy in his pocket or do we sit in Daddy's lap just to be with Daddy?
Good Point....

:amen:

That's what I want for my church, and ultimately for my as-yet-unsaved family. Sometimes the waiting really hurts. When we've tasted that the Lord is good, and they won't even look for Him.

This happened to me a couple of years ago.

I was in a meeting in another pastor's church.

He called me up to the front of the church and we talked for a few minutes. The longer we talked, the more intoxicated I became off of the Presence of the Lord.

He suddenly stopped talking and just looked at me for a few moments. As he did, I felt something similar to a moderate wind blow from my right to left and as it did, I collapsed on the floor as I lost my physical strength. It took a while for me to get up off the floor. It had caused such a physical weakness in me.

The thing is, this pastor never touched me, but he knew that the Presence of the Lord was getting heavier and heavier on me. You could really say that he got out of God's way!

I have honestly never heard of "blowing" upon people... but I think that if it is unctioned by the Holy Spirit... then let it be so.

Personally I would let the Holy Spirit use me in that manner... but I will wait for Him to say so instead of my flesh.

Tigersnare... there's something called "waiting upon the Lord". If we get too ahead of God's will... we end up following the flesh instead of God.

Maybe you can tell me what you would be waiting for, had you made that statement.

And would if it never came?

I would be waiting for the Holy Spirit to say "GO!" If it never came about then God would have a different plan for me which I will know when the time is right.

What would you do? Surely you have the choice to either please the flesh at the wrong timing or you can wait for the right timing and please God. God's plan will be fulfilled, there's no doubt within me about that.

Would that be like an audible "GO", or some inward pull for you?

I'm a Calvinist, God is Sovereign, we can not thwart God's plans.

If God's plan is for me to go to nations, I will go to nations. I dont make a distinction between going "in the flesh" and going "in the spirit".

Isaiah 14:24
The lord of host has sworn saying, "Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand."
27
For the Lord of host has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for as his stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?
