“Nearly all Black Lives Matter protests are peaceful despite Trump narrative“ (notice he didn’t provide the Trump narrative)

So I responded saying

“Nearly all Police encounters with black people do not result in them killed despite the narrative from BLM” (notice I didn’t provide what the BLM narrative was either)

Nowhere did I suggest the BLM narrative was that most police encounters with black people results in their death; I never provided a narrative, I only suggested what it was not. You’ve misunderstood the point I was making.

I get what your saying friend but honestly we only hear about the ones that were violent from the media not the ones that were actually peaceful. I’ve seen some in my area that did not erupt into violence and I’m sure that there are most likely many more across the country that were similar.

Not knowing anything more about the demonstrations you are referring to, my first reaction is that you are probably referring to activities organized by BLM sympathizers, but not BLM itself.

I have witnessed this myself. These are not BLM, even though they use the name, put it on their signs, graffiti, and etc.

Well that sounds like speculation so I wouldn’t want to dismiss these examples based on speculation if it incriminates someone of wrongdoing in the process. I’d have to give them the benefit of a doubt in this case.

In all fairness, BLM/Antifa demonstrations have a higher risk of turning violent than others because emotions tend to run high and law enforcement has been actively encouraged to suppress such dissent by any means necessary... that's a recipe for trouble.

The 1/6 militia, OTOH, planned to be violent from the get-go.

Such ignorance. A lot of people have seen stores firebombed, people attacked, and other such violence. For you to dismiss all of that and claim it is all based on racism is absurd.

I've seen plenty of planes take off and land safely, but the only time you hear anything about them from the media is when one crashes. Funny how that sorta stuff works huh...

I would say that windows being broken is a far different thing than the VP almost being assassinated because of the rioters a president encouraged to attack our Capitol. But maybe that's just me.

Windows can be replaced. Black lives - and the lives of elected officials, regardless of their party affiliation - cannot.

Also, numbers CLEARLY show that, infact, yes 93% of protests were peaceful. I'll call that "nearly all"

I've witnessed multiple BLM protests and Trump rallies that remained peaceful, but what happened in the summer of 2020 and January 6th at the Capitol has over shadowed those peaceful protests and rallies and the news media mainly focuses only on the violence. If I didn't know any better, I would believe that the main goal of the news media is to keep people paranoid, angry and afraid.

Nah. The main goal of the media is to report news. Nothing out of the ordinary happening isn't news, something unusual happening is; it's the old principal that dog bites man isn't news, but man bites dog, that's news.

Or...."Protest remans peaceful" isn't news, but "protest turns violent" is.

In other words, if violent protests were the norm, then "Protest remains peaceful" would be news.

They just like controversy. Anything that gets people riled up is worth writing about. Peace is boring, nobody wants to hear about peace, violence on the other hand is much more interesting because people love anarchy and chaos and they love to argue and fight. This is just man’s natural state.
