  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Blessed feast!

My wife and I are currently on holiday in Greece, having met up with our eldest daughter and her husband who are visiting from the U.S.
We were incredibly blessed to discover a relatively new church here in Thessaloniki, a 30 minute walk from where we are staying, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos. We came for a vigil service a few days (nights) ago and then again for the feast day. The church is huge and is absolutely beautiful inside. There are still a few walls, columns and ceilings that have yet to be frescoed but the bulk of the church is already finished. We were in tears the first the we walked in.

Which church is that (I can't find one named 'Dormition' but maybe I'm not searching the Greek term)? It looks wonderful. Thessaloniki really has some wonderful churches

My local one when I'm in Thess. is St. Therapon's

Have you visited Analipseos (Ascension)? It was our original home parish when we were living here

I'm surprised we never visited St Therapon. It is straight up to the end of Markou Botsari and we used to live near the park above Vasilisis Olgas. Looking at the photos on google, it is absolutely beautiful
