  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bizarre!

  • G'day mini Saddam

AUSTRALIANS have rushed to sponsor an 8-year-old Bangladeshi boy who shares his name with the Iraqi dictator.

World Vision said it had been flooded with calls offering support for the young Saddam Hussein after publicity on the case revealed the boy was being spurned by UK sponsors.

The agency's London spokesman said despite pleas since before Christmas, no one had come forward to sponsor Bangladeshi Saddam.

"When people hear the name Saddam Hussein they usually politely decline and ask who else they can sponsor," he said.

The Australian spokeswoman said the story had struck a chord with Aussies.

"It doesn't matter what the child's name is or what the circumstances are, Australians are incredibly generous," she said.

From the Australian Herald Sun newspaper.
The poor little chap! Just how unlucky would you feel?!

Poor kid  If I could pay for his name to be changed, I would. He's going to have a lifetime of sorrow otherwise.

(as a side note, I wonder what would happen if he sent a letter to the US and a postal inspector saw the return address as being from "Saddam Hussein." )
