Birthin' babies...

The other thread about medication got me thinking, how long was your labor with your first child? v. How long was labor with your second child? My first labor was 18 hours...

first 14 hours, pushed about 20 minutes
second 7 hours pushed less than 20 minutes

(dont hate me, I have hips made for birthing, sorry)

I guess I should add, I pushed for 35ish minutes. Which I think is still pretty good for first babies... My mom was supposedly in labor for 32 hours before she got a c-section with me. I can't imagine 32. I thought I was tired.

My first was 45 hrs. due to some postitioning problems (make sure that baby is in the right postion before labor. Its no fun to try to get them moved during labor ) 1 hr of pushing

#2 was 10 hrs 20 min of pushing

#3 was 4 1/2 hrs. with about 15-20 min of pushing

#4 was 8 hrs with 30-40 min of pushing (the pushing took longer on this one because my contractions spaced out at the last)

My first I was in labor for 7 hours and I don't know why but they had me pushing for 2 hours. But hey I got some good muscles in my shoulders, LOL
Baby #2 Labor was 6 hours and pushed for 2 minutes then the nurse told me to stop or we would be delivering the baby without the doctor. When he finally came I pushed 2 more times and baby came out.

Both labors were about 12 hours ... but really only the last 4 or so of each was intense (only the last hour or so was really painful). I pushed for 2 1/2 hours with my first (his right hand was up by his ear, so really I was pushing out what ended up being a perfectly shaped head with a fist ... a bit big!). I pushed 20 minutes with my second son (who ended up being a pound and a half bigger than his brother - weighing in at 9 lb, 12oz).

1st- about 12, but I had a really early epidural
2nd- about 4 hrs
3rd- about 3 hours
4th- about 3 hrs
5th- about 6 hrs
6th about 6 hrs

All but the first were just a bit of pushing....

About nine hours of labor...thrity minutes of pushing and out came ms. Lilly Rose...haven't had a second child..yet.

1st - 11 hours labor - then 10 hours pushing (not kidding, those are hours, although I was given rest periods--gotta love midwifery care. ) - ending with c-section.

2nd - 6 hours labor, 35 minutes pushing.

My labor went for 20 hours before they did an emergency c-section.

Number one was 9 and a half hours
number two was 2 and half hours
(both with no pain relief)

1st baby- labor about 8 hours/ 1 hour pushing (had epidural that was not effective and had a "window" of contstant pain the whole time, not just during contractions- they tried to pump more in which caused LOTS of problems after the delivery. . .but thats another story)

2nd baby- labor about 6 hours/ pushed twice (another epidural mishap. . .the regulator was not working and when they came back with a new one baby was already born! )

3rd baby-2 hours labor/ 1 push (no epidural or drugs)

4th baby- 4 hours labor/ 2 pushes (had Staydol [sp??])

5th baby- 4 hours labor/ 1 push (dr almost did not make it to this one, I went from 4 to 10 in about 2 minutes as I got out of bed to walk. . .also had Staydol with this one)

I have to ask...why ever did you have to push for 10 HOURS!!!?

With my first, I was in labor for about 12 hours. I pushed for 45 minutes before they finally cut me. She had a big head. LOL

With my second, I walked around in labor for 2 weeks before they finally broke my water for me. After that, it was maybe 45 minutes, with about 10 minutes of pushing! But, boy those 2 WEEKS!! THAT was hard!

1st baby 44 hours of labor before they took her by c-section

1st baby: 27 hours labor. The last hour i pushed.(If I had been in a hospital, they would have taken him by C section.)
2nd baby: 7 hours;30 min pushing time
3rd baby: 5 hours; 5 minutes pushing time.

Had a home birth for all three! Gotta love midwifery care.
