Scientists are monitoring a lengthening and widening crack in the Antarctic Larson C Ice Shelf, which is now accelerating at a frightening pace. In 2016 the rift has advanced another 20 miles. According to experts a two thousand square mile section of the Ice Shelf could break off and spill into the Southern Ocean at any time, threatening an even larger event that would follow, as conditions worsen and more and more of the Larsen C Shelf collapses and breaks off.

Friends, this event could potentially be truly Apocalyptic. The Hollywood disaster movie "Day After Tomorrow" was based on exactly this scenario. Scientists have no idea what will happen if the Eastern Ice Shelf of Antarctica collapse into the sea, but they fear ocean currents and circulation (like the Gulf Stream which delivers temperate waters to Europe) could potentially collapse as well, plunging Europe and the entire Northern Hemisphere into a catastrophic mini Ice Age.

It's good you have personal contacts in the United Kingdom. I know a college professor in Scotland through my nephew, but neither are particularly avid communicators. Been a year since I heard from either of them.

Keeping up to date on this story will be taxing. The only reason I know anything about it, is because I got bored listening to the news anchors repetitive monologue, and just happened to glance at the headline banner running across the bottom of the t.v. screen and saw.. "crack in antarctic ice shelf lengthening" and I nearly had a heart attack when I googled the story on the Internet. I saw the movie "Day After Tomorrow" too, and I'm bewildered how this story doesn't warrant more extensive media coverage.

You said in a related post about Germany warning it's citizens to stockpile food, water and medical supplies, governments and media have no interest in warning the public about Apocalytic threats, and a couple of days later, I see the little banner message scroll across the bottom of my television screen.

Sounds like another BINGO for Handmaid for Jesus.

Reuters News Agency reports North Korea fired its' first submarine launched missile (SLBM) to successfully reach Japanese territory. The missile launched on Wednesday reached Japan's "Air Identification Zone".

The SLBM missile launch underscores North Korea's continuing determination to violate a U.N. prohibition against the North testing ballistic missile technology, and launches into Japan's Air Identification Zone in recent weeks violates the sovereignty of Japan and could be construed as an "act of war" under international law.

Update on Italy earthquake. The 6.2 magnitude earthquake which hit Italy in the early hours of Wednesday rattled windows and shook furniture in Rome. The relatively shallow seismic event (4 km deep) amplified the destructive power of the quake, and four aftershocks measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale added to the destruction. This event adds to the list of major earthquakes that have occurred in Italy in the 20th Century.

I've uncovered some interesting historical information which coincides with Italy's most powerful earthquakes. These major earthquake events and their accompanying political upheavals may be of interest to students of eschatology.

In January 1915 (During World War I), a magnitude 7.0 earthquake strikes the city of Avezzano in central Italy (same area), in which over 30 thousand are killed.

The next huge quake (a magnitude 6.5 quake) occurs in July 1930. This date is significant because 1930 coincides with the first year of Binito Mussolini's reign as supreme dictator of Italy. After having signed a concordat with the RCC, which creates the Vatican State in the previous year 1929, Mussolini has cleared the last hurtle, (RCC opposition to his rule), and consolidates absolute political power in Italy.

There were no other major earthquakes recorded between the quake events of 1915 and 1930, (WW I and Mussolini's consolidation of power prior to WW II).

ROME — At least 73 people were reported killed and dozens more were missing or feared dead Wednesday after a magnitude-6.2 earthquake and a series of aftershocks struck several towns in central Italy, toppling scores of buildings, according to Italy’s civil protection agency.

Hardest hit were towns in the regions of Umbria, Lazio and Marche some 80 to 100 miles northeast of Rome.

More historical earthquake information and biblical reflection.

The last major earthquake in Italy (6.3 magnitude) occurred on April 6, 2009 and centered on the town of L' Aquuila in the Abruzzo region (same area of Central Italy) and was also felt in the city of Rome. 300 people died in the earthquake.

Some will recall, 2009 marked the beginning of a worldwide global recession and financial crisis. Today, after the country of Greece, Italy remains one of the most economically troubled countries in the European Union. In 2016, world trade has reached an all time low as well, equal to that of the 2009 global recession. See the corresponding Bible prophecy which foretells of worldwide famine and economic collapse at the Time of the End, (Revelation 6:1-8).

Eschatology students and Bible scholars may also find this interesting as well. Note the span of time that elapsed between the last major earthquake in 2009 and this one in 2016. Seven years, right ?

Anyone familiar with the Bible understands the significance of this holy number and how it relates to God's divine plan. In End Time Bible Prophecy, it relates directly to Daniel's Prophecy of the Seventieth Week and the Tribulation Period. In Exodus 21:2 God commands the Hebrews to free their slaves after seven years. Judea (The West Bank and Palestinian Territory) is exactly where the initial invasion of Israel is to take place, (Matthew 24:16, Luke 21:21).

Is this seven year span between the last major quake and this one a message from God heralding the arrival of the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse and the Great Tribulation Period on earth ? Is it a final warning from God for Israel to withdraw from Palestinian territory, remove their illegal settlements, and end the enslavement and occupation of the Palestinian people, or suffer a devastating destruction ? I believe it is.

So observations today have no bearing .... things like the quake in Italy have been going on for centuries .... nothing new

That's not what Jesus said. Have you ever read the Olivet Discourse, the Gospel, or the teachings of the Apostles on the matter ? You know that part of the Bible called the New Testament ? (Hint). In a Christian Bible, it comes right after the Book of Malachi and ends with the Revelation.

Yes, Jesus said there would be signs and we have had them aplenty. The 2 world wars and the continuous wars since, plus the famines, plagues and economic disasters the world has experienced in the last 100 plus years.
This proves that the four horsemen of Rev 6:1-8 are doing their thing and of course it is perfectly evident the Fifth Seal was opened when Jesus ascended to heaven.
We, therefore, await the Sixth Seal worldwide disaster, that will happen 'like a thief': unexpectedly. The Prophets tell us exactly what the Lord will use on His Day of wrath, what will trigger it and what the results will be.

News Update. PBS World News 08/24/16

In a story buried by the three major news networks on Wednesday, Turkish forces crossed into Syrian territory attacking the Syrian town of Jarablus. The U.S. backed operation (in which American tactical bomber combat aircraft too part) not only targets Isis forces imbedded in the town and surrounding villages, but also targets any Syrian Kurdish anti-Assad forces (called the YPG), formally backed by the United States that refuse to leave the area. This in effect, creates another serious blow to U.S. diplomacy in the Middle East, where the United States has once again turned against a smaller ally, for a larger strategic reason and wrecked U.S. credibility in the region. The move is however understandable considering the U.S. need to show total and unwavering support for Turkey after the failed coup attempt.

It's unknown whether Turkey will reinforce this incursion into Syria, whether it will advance farther, or how long Turkey plans to remain in the country. Apparently Vice President Joe Biden, who arrived in Turkey on Wednesday wasn't briefed on Turkey's long term plans, in an operation the U.S. had dubbed "Euphrates Shield". So it appears, the truth is the details of the plan may have been worked out between Erdogan and Putin during their Moscow meeting last week which looked at widening military co-operation between the two countries.

This development bears mention though, because Turkey (Togarmah) is identified in Bible as making a push south into the Middle East in Bible prophecy. I'm not saying this particular drive into Syria constitutes that particular End Time push, but it definitely sets a president leaning in the direction Turkey is redefining its' strategic allies and goals in the region.

Thank you, nothing more than a typo. I saw the Headline Biden lands in Turkey Wednesday as Turks cross into Turkey and rushed to get the story posted. PBS World News was the only media to cover it Wednesday night and did an excellent job explaining the development and its politics in depth, minus the End Time biblical implications which are my own. I am dividing my time to three prophecy web-sites now, and it can be overwhelming trying to make that many posts in so short a period of time.

Breaking News

Russia has begun shutting down Christian house church Witness organizations in Russia, (Religious NGO's), and started deporting Mormon missionaries (two more deported today) under the new anti-terrorism law passed a few weeks ago (ostensibly to protect Russians from radical Islam). \

At the time, I warned everyone this was coming when the law was first passed by Putin, banning all public displays of religion, religious dress and religious organizations not approved by the state. At the time, everybody thought he was just talking about Muslims wearing burkas in public. The law also prohibits the private observance of religion in private homes. As it turns out, I was right about this law being used against Christians as well.

We can argue all day long about whether, or not Mormons are only nominally Christians, that's irrelevant. In fact, dictatorial programs that eliminate all religious opposition, typically start with the least popular segment of any targeted group within society, but inevitably the purge expands to include just about everyone else who threatens the regime. That was certainly the case in Germany under the Nazi regime, and it will play out the same under Putin's resurrection of Stalinism in Russia.

Inevitably, Putin will use this law to persecute Catholics and Jews in Russia. The Russian Orthodox Church will naturally be the last Christians Putin will persecute, but he's going to get around to them too... mark my words.

Anybody still think Vladimir Putin is a Christian ?! Stalin would be proud.

Thank you for posting that. I was trying to remember the words and where I saw them. Unless I'm mistaken, I believe those poignant words were penned by an anonymous prisoner who died in the Nazi death camps and left them scrawled on a note.

Anyway. That's how programs like that work. Excellent example.
