I am not scoffing at Jesus, but at those who seem to get all happy that billions of people have to die before his return.
Who is happy about death? I am happy He is coming to end death.

Yes I can see what you are saying if something like the Carrington Event happened today since we are such a technological civilization,

Exactly. I don't know if the word "Catastrophic" is strong enough. Try to imagine a world in which everything electronic ceased to function worldwide, instantly. Power grids destroyed, water treatment plants cease to function, rail and commercial freight deliveries to cities paralyzed, nuclear power plant meltdowns. Hospitals would be reduced overnight to mere medical aid stations. High Tech weaponry the United States relies heavily on would also be rendered totally useless in a matter of seconds. No national or international communications. International trade would stop completely. Economic ruin and famine would become pandemic.

How long would it take to restore everything to normal ? Thousands of satellites would have to be replaced in Earth's orbit, damaged electronic equipment all over the Earth would have to be replaced.. It would take years just to restore even the most essential services. Even food production and harvesting has become highly automated. It would be the greatest catastrophe in the history of the world. For a time, civilization would cease to exist.

Even today books are going out of vogue in favor of electronic media. It may be that soon there will no longer be Bibles available as the prophecy of Amos 8:9-12 seems to suggest when the internet is destroyed.

Amos 8:9-12
9 On that day—oracle of the Lord God—
I will make the sun set at midday
and in broad daylight cover the land with darkness.
10 I will turn your feasts into mourning
and all your songs into dirges.
I will cover the loins of all with sackcloth
and make every head bald.
I will make it like the time of mourning for an only child,
and its outcome like a day of bitter weeping.
11 See, days are coming—oracle of the Lord God—
when I will send a famine upon the land:
Not a hunger for bread, or a thirst for water,
but for hearing the word of the Lord.
12 They shall stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east
In search of the word of the Lord,
but they shall not find it.

Bob..

It would be worse than anyone's worse nightmare. We would have to learn again how to chop wood and haul water.

I experienced a sort of limited "pre-view" of this when hurricane Katrina destroyed the city of New Orleans. The government was paralyzed and completely overwhelmed for weeks. They warned people of course to boil their drinking water for 20 minutes, however they didn't think to warn the public about only using sterile water for personal hygiene and washing their dishes. Cases of amoebic dysentery, staff infections, fever and respiratory infections were epidemic. The government again, failed to warn people "paper masks" were insufficient protection against molds and viruses left behind in the aftermath of the flooding. Nothing was ever said about the carcinogen risks of benzene and other chemicals leaching into the water table and wells.

Half the population of New Orleans evacuated the city and never returned. At the same time the death rate in New Orleans increased 300 % in the years following the aftermath of the storm. Lot's of people would die from a simple lack of information and taking necessary precautions. There were virtually no public announcements about the danger of dehydration, its' signs, and how to avoid it. Many older people were just abandoned to die needlessly. The doors of churches and aid agencies were closed and locked.

Now multiple that situation by several thousand degrees of magnitude, and instead of weeks, extend it out to several years. I'm afraid in the event of a massive unprecedented Coronal Mass Ejection from the Sun, there won't be any rescue coming. No helicopters. No convoys of trucks with supplies and soldiers. No announcements telling you what you need to do to survive, or where to go. It will be an absolute unending nightmare. The situation will be absolutely Medieval.

There are signs in the heavens above and on the Earth below that people say is normal but there has been noticeable upticks recently of earthquakes, volcanoes, freaky weather, and other phenomenon.

You're totally wrong, the birthpangs is not the natural calamities which happens from ancient times until now.
Its the suffering of the real christians bearing their cross on the way of the cross.
If you cant feel it at all, you need to question urself.

May Jesus bless you all HalleluYAH

the birthpangs is not the natural calamities which happens from ancient times until now.

This comes up a lot in eschatology circles. The claim everything in the natural world continues unchanged since ancient times. Nothing new is happening today, that hasn't already occurred before in recorded history. In other words, there are no ecological or environmental signs of an approaching Apocalypse. I assure everyone, this view is as erroneous as it is unbiblical.

The Bible says emphatically and repeatedly there will be signs in the "heavens and in the earth", (Luke 21:11,25, Acts 2:19, Matthew 24:7 and Revelation 16:8). The Bible describes a third of the fish in the sea and the birds of the air dying, (Revelation 8:9, 16:4-7, Hosea 4:3, Psalms 105:29) and a third part of the trees and all the green grass were burned up, (Revelation 8:7, 9:4).

I have personally checked the history and science books relative to this matter, and I can assure you with absolute certainty NO MASS EXTICTION of plant and animal life has occurred on this planet since the end of the Cretaceous Period over 66 million years ago.

Until recently that is. With the deforestation of the developing world, the disappearance of glaciers worldwide, heating of tundra and artic environments, a shrinking North Pole, encroachment of human populations on wilderness areas, and as industrial pollution pours into the seas, oceans and rivers, animals and plant life on this planet are now disappearing at a rate comparable to the Cretaceous Extinction Event. This isn't opinion, it's a scientific fact.

So let's be clear, those who claim it's "business as usual" are flat out wrong, both from a biblical and a scientific standpoint.

Thank you Stephen for your post. It seems the words of the Lord Jesus are being refuted by some who fail to see the truth. It was like this in the days of Noah.

Quick comment

The "birth pangs" are particularly directed for the nation of Israel .... the following scriptures are directed to Israel .... not the Gentiles of the nations [Jeremiah 30: Ezekiel 20:33-44; Zechariah 14; Matthew 24; Luke 21:20-36; Revelation 12:6; 12:14-17]

Other peoples on the earth will experience the great tribulation, but the birth pangs as presented in scripture are for Israel alone ... and this is the way the related scriptures should be interpreted

A remnant of Israel has been returned to the land for the very purpose of experiencing the "birth pangs" scheduled for the nation [Matthew 24:8]

And neither should this kind of experience be used to forecast the timing of the Lord's second advent .... not until the tribulation begins .... then will Israel experience this pressuring by the Lord for some of the nation to turn to Him as their Messiah and King

In other news, Russia is massing troops in Crimea in response to Ukrainian irregulars staging a cross border attack a few days earlier. Putin claims the Ukraine government is behind the attack. Along with ground forces and armor, Russia has also deployed surface to surface missile batteries to Crimea, suggesting some kind of action against Ukraine and the West is imminent.

Russia and Assad has also used chlorine gas to attack anti-Assad forces in Aleppo, in a blatant violation of an international ban against using chemical weapons. Source, Debka.com.

(Question) Is Vladimir Putin about to drop his pretense of being a Peacemaker and make his move ?

It will not be Russia who attacks Israel and destroys western cultural domination during the coming tribulation, but this one [Daniel 7:7-25; 8:9-25; 11:36-45; 12:17; Micah 5:5-6; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12; Revelation 9:11; 11:7; 13:1-4; 17:8-18]

This beast of Satan's design will arise in the northwestern Mesopotamia region of the Middle East

Not Exactly True. This is a "popular" myth, but is totally erroneous. Although some prophecy may refer specifically to the present day nation of Israel... there's no question, the impact of the fulfillment of these prophecies will have global implications. If you believe" the Apocalypse will generally be confined to Israel alone, or the Middle East in particular, you've drank the "Poison Kool Aid".

I can see how this doctrine appeals to the masses, because of the proposition End Time events will generally take place in Israel, or the Middle East, as most people don't live in either of these places, but this is false hope, and something the Apostles explicitly warn will occur at the Time of the End, (2 Timothy 4:3).

Most people do not believe the apocalypse will happen in their town/city and phoo phoo apocalypse happening elsewhere. Frogs in warm water mentality. Right now the Gulf Coast states are under water from Mississippi to Texas. People are having to be rescued, homes are destroyed, and yes, lives have been lost. People will say "that is not as bad as Hurricane Katrina." What lack of compassion! Nobody notices that the U.S. is having more catastrophic
flooding events all at the same time than ever.Even there is more flooding in other countries than there has ever been before.Earthquakes and volcano eruptions are happening all over the globe. Thousands of lives have been lost. But nothing is happening right.

I just said that the whole world is going to experience the Lord's coming judgment .... can you read?

.... and by the way so does the Lord [Psalms 2; Revelation 3:10; Revelation 6:12-17]

However, the "birth pangs" as presented are specifically directed toward Israel as a nation [Matthew 24:8; Revelation 7:1-8; 12; 14:1-7]

Matthew 24 is all about Israel in the Middle East .... and the birthing will result in the nation born in a day for the remnant who will turn to their Messiah and King Jesus Christ during the coming tribulation [Isaiah 66:8; Jeremiah 30; 31:31-37; Ezekiel 20:33-44; Daniel 9; Joel 2; 3; Micah 5; Zechariah 13; 14; 15; Matthew 24; Luke 21:20-36; Romans 11:25-36]

Read and study the prophets of Israel for a more perfect understanding .... they have the focus that the Lord has given them .... no popular myth [2 Peter 1:16-21]

Right now the Gulf Coast states are under water from Mississippi to Texas.

The recent "thousand year flood" in Louisiana was initially centered on Baton Rouge. About a week ago, Baton Rouge Louisiana was already severely flooded. Of course we all remember the excessive use of police force that resulted in the shooting death of an unarmed black man in Baton Rouge not long ago. It's also TRUE the flooding has spread to Mississippi (a historical seat of racial discrimination) and Texas (where another racially motivated hate crime occurred in Dallas recently and Florida where a 76 year old grandmother was recently gunned down by a psycho cop.

Like you, I believe these flood events ARE the Judgment of God, and I was wondering if anybody else got it. Thank you for your post.

My comment

The Lord does move against nations that ignore Him and He will bring them down if He wills

And these things can be used to humble and wake a few people up for seeking Him

However, these things have been going on for centuries, but not documented in the records of the prophets who are silent with regard for events over the last 2000 years

The Lord's judgments found in the prophets and the related book of Revelation have not yet begun

And when they do there will be no question about what is happening .... all earth dwellers will know that they are under His unrelenting time of wrath upon the earth .... world wide and non stop

Revelation 6 gives the overview .... unprecedented upheaval and destruction of the entire earth, billions of humans killed, natural forces of extreme intensity that no man has ever seen .... no place to escape

... the human reaction [Revelation 6:15-17]

The problem with trying to call wolf when the wolf has not come gives Christianity and the Lord's Word a bad wrap when the false alarms do not materialize and come to pass .... this behavior should never be exercised

The Lord will move when He is ready .... abruptly and with no prior warning

He will act at a time that you think not .... cannot know

Only when He has begun His judgment will the unfulfilled portion of prophecy be realized and consummated with 100% accuracy

All of the birth pangs scheduled for the nation of Israel are still pending and will take place during the time of Jacob's trouble .... the 70th week decreed for the nation still pending .... the tribulation of Revelation's unfolding

the birthpangs is not the natural calamities which happens from ancient times until now.

In an MSNBC report today, climatologists have identified two ocean "heat waves" dubbed "blobs" off the coast of California and Australia since 2015. In 2015 sea birds on the California coast started falling out of the sky dead, while emaciated and starving sea lion pups began washing up on California beaches. Now in 2016 kelp forests off the California coast and Australia have begun to die off. Coastal mangrove swamps on the coast of Australia are also shrinking due to a 5 degree centigrade rise in water temperatures. According to marine biologists and other scientists, the kelp beds and mangrove swamps are not recovering with the seasonal abatement of the heat waves during winter months, the kelp forests and mangrove swamps are progressively disappearing on a permanent basis. These ecosystems are literally collapsing.

These coastal ecosystems and their associated marine life have been around for tens of thousands of years. This dramatic change in the Earth's environment does not represent a 'normal" cyclical variation like any recorded in the historical past. So it's completely incorrect to characterize the changes we are now seeing in the Earth's environment, as having occurred before in ancient times. This is not business as usual.

I know it can be VERY stressful for someone attuned with the spiritual world, to deal with skeptics and naysayers who refuse to see what is so overwhelmingly apparent to us. I am pleased to be here to support you and your ministry. On the bright side, as these birth pains grow worse, our job is going to become easier. People are starting to "Wake Up". Something amazing and wondrous is about to happen.
