Binghamton?

My husband and I are thinking of relocating to the Binghamton area. Nothing is definate yet, but we'd like to "case" the area, so to speak. We didn't have much time, so we went to Owego (where dh would be working), the part of Vestal with all the shops, Endicott, Maine, and the zoo. We only got lost like 300 times, so we want to come up with a better plan this time.

Is there any area where they're building new homes we should look at? My Google search didn't go well.

Any towns in the area we should check out?

Any recomendations of things to do/sights to see? Restaurants to go to?

I hear it snows a lot up there. Do they take good care of the roads?

Be aware-recent flooding has done lots of damage in parts of Owego, Vestal, Endicott and many other areas. I don't know how much it will affect housing prices but compared to nationally, prices are very good. Watch out for any house near the river because it almost certainly has flood damage! If you want to be near Owego look at Apalachin, Vestal, and Endicott--there should be new construction going on in Vestal and Endicott. Go to www.binghamtonmls.com for real estate listings. Lots and lots of damage. It's chaos to drive through Owego and Conklin and surrounding areas.
