  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

I'll just repost what I told flnativegirl:

I did okay, but I did eat a candy bar one day this week. I walked twice - not three times. :( I'm trying to get settled into my new job. I've figured out a place I can walk during my breaks at work. I wonder if it's as effective if I walk two separate times at 15 minutes each?
Just walk at a brisk pace and it totally counts :D

Beer/lager/ale = not something I like the taste of.

I am trying to eat yogurt and stuff when I have a craving for sweets, though.

:D

Thanks for the tips!
Frozen grapes are a good cure for sweets cravings in case I haven't mentioned that already.

Right on!

By the way, baked chicken marinated in zesty italian dressing is VERY yummy.

You can find it in the ethnic (Spanish) food section of your local grocery store. It's a Spanish marinade that is really good with chicken and pork. I usually put chicken and the entire bottle of mojo (Mojo Criollo) in the crockpot and let it simmer on low all day. The meat practically falls apart when it is done cooking.

I've got tons of meal ideas if you want more suggestions. :p

I do!

My husband has been having a lot of heartburn lately and has decided because of that to cut down on red meats. Since that's mostly what he has ate in the past, I don't really know what else to make for him. I just usually eat veggies and occasionally a chicken breast, but I would imagine that would be quite boring to his tastebuds.

lol

Send me ideas.

My PM box can hold 5000.

LOL

It will be a bit before I compile them, but I will PM you some of my "regular" meals that I make. The cool thing about them is a lot of them can be made vegetarian and you can add just the meat for him, if you want.

YAY! Thanks so much!

I love frozen grapes, they're great when you're having an ice cream emergency :yum:

BTW, I really love your little turtle guy. Does he have a name? If not, I'm really feeling Kirby....or Harold.....

OOH! Herbie! :D

Most pasta dishes can be made to add meat or keep it out if you don't want. I made an amazing pasta dish last weekend.

I took 1 pound of shrimp (pre-cooked, peeled, and deveined) and marinated them in italian dressing for 15-20 minutes.

I then cooked some pasta. You can use any noodles you want, but I prefer angel hair.

While the pasta was cooking, I pre-heated a skillet with some pam cooking spray. You can use vegetable or olive oil, but pam has no calories so I use it.

While the skillet was heating, I mixed up a sauce for the pasta. Just mix the following ingredients in a small bowl.

1/4 cup of chicken broth
2 tablespoons of cilantro. Fresh is good, but I have used the dry and it tastes just fine
2 tablespoons chunky peanut butter
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of sesame seeds (if you want)

Mix all of those up well in a small bowl. The peanut butter is stubborn at first, but mixes well if you stay after it.

When the skillet is heated, I add a half of a chopped onion, a chopped bell pepper and some sliced mushrooms to the skillet. I saute them until they are crisp-tender

At that point, I drain the shrimp from the marinade and add the shrimp to the skillet with the vegetables. I cook for 2-3 minutes, just long enough to the let the shrimp heat through

When the pasta is cooked, I drain it and put it in a large bowl. I add the shrimp/veggie mix and the peantubutter sauce to the pasta and toss it all together.

The sauce isn't a lot, so the last time I cooked this, I doubled up the sauce recipe. Another twist to the recipe that I have tried and liked was to add a little minced garlic to the sauce.

You can also do this recipe without the shrimp. You can also cut up chicken, marinate it in italian dressing, and bake it or or saute it in a skillet before hand to use in the recipe.

It actually tastes darn good. I had leftovers for lunch twice this past week at work.

In fact, I might have to make this again tonight. Typing this up just made me hungry.

Then Kirby it is, cuz I like that, too. :D

Yay!

While we're speaking of pasta, you can get pasta at health food stores that is made from Jeruselum Artichoke Powder that is low in carbs and high in fiber. It's really yummy, and comes in flavors like Tomato Basil and such. Btw Coach, Akins carries it, but I can't remember the name and I used my last box last week

I think I am going to use my tax refund for a new bicycle, since mine got stolen. I have a hard time jogging/running or even walking or hard surfaces because of my knee issues, and the bike is no impact. Besides, I got 2 lakes within 5 miles that have really nice riding trails that go around them, so I really don't have a good excuse to not ride
