  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biggest loser on CF.....

Today I stayed in my Weight Watchers Points range but did not get any exercise. I already exercise regularly, though, so I am not concerned about that. What is really challenging to me is staying in my points range and I managed to do that today.

Here's what I ate (in no particular order)
lean cuisine 7pts
crackers 5 pts
green beans 1 pt
corn 2 pt
grilled chicken 4 pt
brocolli 1 pt
4 small merita chocolate donuts 7 pt
--------------------------------

I found your post Molly! :D WTG on sneaking in the exercise. If you find the magic formula for converting a night owl into a morning person, lemme know - I'd pay good money for it! :sorry:

*sigh* as would I. It would be really nice if no one ever needed Molly before 10 am. :D

So, WOOT! I am so psyched on so many levels. First of all, I went to the chiropractor today so my neck, back and head doesn't hurt all at the same time!

.....and they weighed me and I've lost a good little chunk of weight since January! I am sooo excited. I KNEW my clothes weren't fitting the same, and it's nice to know that I'm doing something right. :pink:

I've been doing good this week. I forgot my lunch today at home when I left, so I had a co-worker pick me up a sub sandwich at lunch. I haven't eaten out at all this week other then today's lunch. I got a roast with potatoes cooking right now for dinner!

Diet wise I've cut out coffee and changed my soda to diet witha shot of the real stuff, and I haven't had anything fried, so my "fast food" is limted to subs and things like that.

cardio every morning (cept Friday, knee pain) burning about 390 cals before eating, heart rate peaks at 150.

Still pumpin the i-ron, doing legs today.

I was 224 before we started the discussion, 219.5 this morning. I'm sure alot of that is water weight though. five pounds in a couple of weeks is a bit too aggressive to make me a believer.

oh, I also have been eating the occasional random fun size snickers bar from the Easter basket my parents mailed me this year. (my parents rock)

And I upped my fiber (capsules) and started taking flaxseed oils to get Omega 3 (780mg), Omega 6 (156mg and Omega 9 (143mg) fatty acids, and increased the frequency of the EAS Protein shakes to geta better basis of amino acids.

I'll just repost what I told flnativegirl:

I did okay, but I did eat a candy bar one day this week. I walked twice - not three times. :( I'm trying to get settled into my new job. I've figured out a place I can walk during my breaks at work. I wonder if it's as effective if I walk two separate times at 15 minutes each?

quick tip.

the occasional candy bar isn't going to torpedo all your progress, but eat half, then force yourself to wait 20 minutes.

That's long enough for your body to register that it's been fed, and the craving/hunger should be managable if not eliminated.

I have no tips to eliminate the deliciousness of candy bars though, sorry.

oh, and a pint (16oz) Guinness has less calories than a can (12oz) of regular soda. Even a gram of protein.

and umm, nitrogen too, which is like, I dunno good for your joints or something. (not really)

We have been talking about weight control this week in my health class. Here are a couple of things we discussed that need to be kept in mind.

1. You lose weight by burning more calories than you intake. Even if you miss out on your exercise, we can still lose weight by intaking fewer calories.

2. Exercise is needed, even though we can lose weight without it. Without exercise, we are losing lean muscle mass as well as body fat when we lose weight. Exercise allows us to firm up the muscles as well as maintain any muscle mass we already have.

3. Eating your favorite foods is ok. If you love chocolate, it's ok to eat it. Just eat it in smaller portions. Like Spicy said, eat half the candy bar, or eat 3-4 hershey's kisses instead of a full size candy bar. Instead of eating a 3 piece fired chicken mean at KFC, eat one fried chicken strip cut up and put on a salad. It's all about learning to control the portions of those food that you consume.

As far as posting a recipe, I've discovered that I love cottage cheese. One of my favorite lunches:

Cottage cheese (about a cup)
Small tomatoes (cherry, roma, cherub) a handful or so
Green onions

I used cherub tomatoes which are really tiny and a little salty, and cut them in half, cut up some green onion, stirred it all together. :yum: You could add a dash of salt, but try it first! I found that I didn't need it, and the less sodium taken in the better.

It's only about 300 calories, and cottage cheese has a lot of protein so I didn't get hungry for several hours.

Cottage cheese is incredible when consider cals/fat/protein.

I used to eat it all the time, and I don't know what happened but I can't even choke it down anymore. I keep buying it too, every now and then, hoping I can start liking it and I'm always saddened.
