  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biden might be in trouble.

Honestly, it's a day late and a dollar short for a conservative to start acting like the moral character of the President should be a serious issue to judge again now that it's Biden's character in question. I'm sorry, but that bird flew the coop four years ago in the 2016 presidential election. It's laughable now.

"Biden has dementia"... It wasn't Biden who said he's never understood wind, the noise from wind turbines cause cancer, and the Continental Army took over airports during the Revolutionary War.

It removes much of the moral high ground people would otherwise claim. An old man who sexually assaulted someone attacking the character of an old man who sexually assaulted someone seems like a wash. Especially when the old man who was impeached was impeached for looking into corruption by the other old man.

Not all conservatives supported Trump during the campaign. So I think it’s as serious an issue as it was in ‘16.

Yes, that's true. I suppose I should have been more specific and less vague. But my point still stands because we've witnessed 4 years of his conservative supporters fervently defending him and trying to justify their vote for him. It's pointless for any of them to point a judgmental finger at Joe Biden, tbh.

"No one is sinless and perfect."

"Who among us is without sin?"

"At least he's not Hillary Clinton."

"I voted for the lesser of two evils."

"I voted for a President, not a pastor."

"Trump's sins are between him and God."

"Christians shouldn't judge Trump for his sins."

"I didn't vote for Trump because he was a choir boy."

"Trump's bragging about sexually groping women was locker room banter."

I didn't vote for Trump last time, and won't this time, partly because of this moral track record.

Are you indicating that all the people who lean left who were saying that people should not do so (which I agree with), only meant that to apply to Trump, and not to someone on their side?

Or do you think now it is fine for everyone to vote for such candidates?

If you truly object to such behavior, then vote third party. It is only wasted if people do not vote their conscience. If all the people who know these two parties are a joke voted third party, it would matter. It is truly a wasted vote to limit your choices to the deeply flawed people both major parties have been nominating.

Even a failed run by a third party helps build momentum if it gets a significant amount of votes, allowing the third party to have a better chance of being on the ballot next time in more states.

Well, there's a possibility Trump's campaign could pull it off.

There are people who still say, "Hillary was worse." Gasp! Sputter! Eye rolls.

It's like comparing someone who got a traffic ticket to an armed Brinks Truck robber.

But hey, it worked once, and even though Trump has added volumes of misdeeds......
Fool them twice, shame on them.

So in four years of people on the left calling out people on the right's hypocrisy they not only failed to convince Trump supporters, but failed to convince themselves? It was just a political tool.

OK. At least now third party folks can call out both.

I voted Third Party in the 2016 election because I didn't want to vote for either Trump or Clinton.

Good, I did the same.

So why not ask what the liberals plan to do this time around, as you did with the conservatives last time?

Biden had women claim he was making them uncomfortable by putting hands on them, sniffing their hair etc.

Now we have this charge. Like most charges from decades ago it is hard to find evidence, so it has a high bar to get traction.

However, there are two points of slight corroboration, the co-workers who admitted her sudden role-change in the NY times article, and this possible reference in the media at the time from someone she claimed to have told.

It is not direct evidence of the incident yet. It is indirect evidence of possible events that stemmed from the incident. It starts to raise questions.

Unless you live in a swing state it probably doesn't matter much if you throw away your vote.

Trump would win my state by a 15% margin or more with or without my vote.

But we are not talking about two equal choices with different philosophies. One has no integrity, compassion, knowledge, work ethic, patriotism. If my favored party was running someone so devoid of character, i would abstain from voting.

There has been no unethical behavior substantiated for Biden ...

Sorry, I am not buying your false dichotomy of throwing your vote away. If you vote against your conscience you already through your vote away.

And where did this great record of Biden come from?

Did Joe Biden Drop Out of the '88 Presidential Race After Admitting to Plagiarism?

He admitted to plagerism and exaggerating his academic record.

He is known to make women uncomfortable by his physical touching.

He now has this accusation.

He stated years ago he was ready to prostitute himself to the big donors, but they thought he was too young. Of course this time around he was older:

I watched all the debates and much of his other appearances, and his main platform appears to be to associate himself with Obama, and remind people he is not Trump.

And he either is so gaffe prone that the best campaign move is to hide him from the press, or he is in mental decline.

We may differ on this point, but touting his connection to an administration that conducted an illegal drone strike campaign, de-stabalized Libya which is now divided between terrorist factions, and has open slave markets, and which let all of the Bush operatives who conducted the "enhanced interrogation campaign" off, does have a few moral questions.

The administration also sold more weapons than the Bush administration, including to countries their own state department identified as human rights abusers.

And see above on his admitting plagerism and falsifying his record.

This is also not the first report of women being uncomfortable with his touching them, though this is the first of this magnitude.

Same here, but I can see in hindsight that that was a mistake. Trump turned out to be far worse than the alternative. And I live in a state where my vote does not matter. My state was going to be Clinton no matter what. Just as some states were Trump no matter what. I had the luxury of voicing my displeasure with both. If I knew then what I know now I would see that voicing my displeasure did more harm than good.

Or it was the right moral choice, and we need to continue to build up third parties until they are viable enough to break up the duopoly.

Frankly I do not see that happening. But good luck to you. The present system seems to be in serious trouble right now.
