I could care less about who's oil the pipeline would be used for, but the negative impact
on the largest aquafer in North America being harmed by a leak or break in the pipeline.

It was a bad idea to begin with and I supported Obama's EO to stop it.

has nothing to do with me.

US produced oil coming to the US to be refined by the US and then slid by the US.

Also an action, (stopping it), which was opposed by Canada. But I guess we don’t care about our Norther neighbors anymore.

No, it would be Canadian Oil, not US oil. This was one reason it was a bad idea to begin with

BTW, in addition to transporting Canadian oil through the aquafer, the pipeline construction also requires taking property in it's path through eminent domain, then turning it over to a private company.

Real hit on liberty for those who lose their homes

It would run through Baker, Montana, where American-produced light crude oil from the Williston Basin (Bakken formation) of Montana and North Dakota would be added[12] to the Keystone's throughput of synthetic crude oil (syncrude) and diluted bitumen (dilbit) from the oil sands of Canada.
It carries BOTH - and BOTH countries benefit from it , the US to the extent that it would further expand our ability to be not reliant on foreign energy.

Energy Independence helps pricing and national security along with adding to our economy through selling to other nations.

You need to get yourself updated on the facts about the Keystone Pipeline for you've been misled.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Also this, but I'm sure you won't agree with the source.

What Is the Keystone XL Pipeline?

Biden ending Keystone pipeline would kill thousands of American jobs

The Biden administration shutting down construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which some scientists argue contributes to climate change, could end thousands of American construction jobs.

He shut it down on his first day.

Thousands of American jobs? That is laughable. Les than 1000 Americans have been hired for temporary work by TC Energy Corp., the Canadian company that owns the pipeline and the majority of these jobs have already ended. The company planned to end up employing a total of 50 people in permanent postilions, most of which would be Canadian.

Considering Keystone's safety record it's shutdown is a good thing. 21 massive oil spills in the last decade with close to 1 million gallons of oil sands spilled on farmlands and nature preserves

According to the Keystone XL website, the project, initially proposed more than a decade ago, would sustain about 11,000 U.S. jobs in 2021 including 8,000 union jobs and generate $1.6 billion in gross wages.

The report notes that currently, oil is transported from Alberta to Illinois and Texas through an existing Keystone pipeline.

And I remember those numbers were greatly exaggerated and most of the jobs would be temporary lasting no more than a year.

The Keystone Website is going to provide positive numbers as it's their business to have the pipeline built and the environment be damned

FYI

TC Energy Corp., the Canadian company that owns the Keystone XL pipeline with the Alberta government, has said more than 1,000 people are out of work because of Biden’s executive order.

Fact-check: Is Biden 'destroying 11,000 jobs' by revoking Keystone pipeline?

Please tell me the difference between temporary jobs that general 1.2 billion in salaries and permanent jobs that generate 1.2 billion in salaries?

Job loss is job loss - gas prices are already responding to this draconian measure and combine this with the cancelation of leases for drilling on Federal land - kiss energy independence goodbye.

The pipeline would have resulted in the creation of around 35 permanent positions and about 15 part time subcontractor work, so maybe 50 long term jobs in total.

The pipeline would also would have resulted in the loss of high paying truck driver positions who are currently hauling the oil to market, and who will presumably still haul it to market.

So, it's actually hard to say if Biden's decision cost more long term jobs, or saved more long term jobs. All we know for now is that it resulted in the loss of about a thousand temporary job positions related to construction which are currently filled.

Presumably the permanent jobs would result in a *career* opportunity and would continue for years to come, whereas the temp workers will have to find work again next year or the following year and their income then drops to zero.

Job loss is job loss - gas prices are already responding to this draconian measure and combine this with the cancelation of leases for drilling on Federal land - kiss energy independence goodbye.

Well, the pipeline wasn't moving any oil yet, so any changes to oil prices are based on greed, and wild speculation, not the actual market conditions of oil.

Why are we even still subsidizing the oil industry in the first place?

By the way, we're already energy independent thanks to fracking, and the Canadian pipeline was not helpful in that respect to begin with. If anything, it would have made us *more* dependent upon foreign oil, not less dependent on foreign oil.

Good for Joe. Now, he will create millions of jobs if Republicans go along with infrastructure rebuilding.

When? They are out of work now, How long until these wonderful jobs appear?

The last administration joe was part of promised “shovel ready jobs” that we are still waiting on.

So confidence in what he says is not high. People can’t feed their families on fairy dust and hopeful wishes.

- Obama's Promise of More "Shovel Ready" Jobs

When Barack Obama was first elected President he took to the podium along with his smiling V.P. and announced that America would be brought back with “shovel ready” jobs.

In other words the construction business would be aboomin. Unfortunately like many of the President’s promises, too many to mention, it turned out to be just another illusion. A few years later, when both the President and Vice President were taking questions about the lack of jobs, and their shovel ready promises, they looked at each other, laughed and said “Right”.

My guess is you didn't say the same when Trump promised jobs, in coal and Keystone, which never developed the way he claimed it would.

In coal, the market wasn't there and the coal companies never bothered to open the mines again.

Keystone ? Only 1000 jobs would be created according to Trans Canada who was responsible for the pipeline, and they would be temporary.

Why is it so important to the discussion what I said or did not say. i am a simple little brown person, the son of a legal immigrant. My opinion mean nothing to Democrats - never have, probably never will, unless they are trying to get me to vote for them.

Would it also add to the conversation to ask if you ever said anything negative about the eight year promise of shovel ready jobs that never came from Barack and joe?

When will joe stand on his own two feet? Is he not accountable for what he did, or didn’t do before Trump. (Gasp!).

Again I ask what makes you believe him now when he was promising it for eight years with Barack.
