Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Most of those jobs would have been temporary - for a few years at best- and the numbers are debatable. Mining and oil companies the world over are famous for inflating their job figures in order to try and gain approvals. And of course, the number of people needed to run a pipeline like that is very small.

In the end many of those people will simply get other jobs on other projects.

This also makes a statement about our future of energy independence which is Important to our national security as well as our economy. Will this e.o. be challenged in the courts? Should be interesting.

Fossil fuels are not the future of energy independence. Even the oil companies know that.

Is a reduction of jobs intrinsically bad?

The future maybe, but the point that we still need fossil fuels remains, the only question is are we going to have to get those fuels from those nations who are not our friends and how many American jobs is that going to eliminate. How will our standard of living change when gasoline is twice the price it is now?

not to One particular political group, but to people who have bills to pay, it sure isn’t good.

...and it was ordered in defiance of the request made by the Canadian Prime Minister that this not be done.

President Trump was criticized for not agreeing with our allies, but none of that matters when whoever is in charge of telling Joe what to do makes the same move.

Opinion: He has nothing to fear by offending our closest ally because the press will not report on it. If by chance they do it will be a minor mention and that’s all

Yet the Trump administration eliminated many more jobs, upwards of 90,000 in his first two years. Did that upset you?

This is good. Moving tar sands is a risky business and more likely to leak and cause environmental problems. Besides, with oil at historic lows, this project is no longer penciling out.

    Good !

It should never have been opened to begin with and only serves Canadian Oil, not US Oil.

Piping US crude from Alaska to the US to be refined, sold and shipped doesn’t serve US Oil?

Oh, I think I see what you mean. We are already doing elsewhere what is being denounced as a terrible idea when the topic switches to the Keystone Pipeline in particular.

Sure they do, especially if you only have an issue with a president eliminating jobs if Biden does it.

It doesn't do that though. It starts in Alberta and the pipeline is owned by Transcanada. There is US produced oil in it, but it's produced by a Canadian company.

has nothing to do with me.

US produced oil coming to the US to be refined by the US and then slid by the US.

Also an action, (stopping it), which was opposed by Canada. But I guess we don’t care about our Norther neighbors anymore.
