Thank you , I read the bible every day , I have a hard time with my short term memory though do to medications I have to take . I have been studi g since 2010 dilegently , trying to make up for all the years I was catholic and missed out on the truth and beauty of Gods word.

I've also been in various protestant denominations, and also learned about the beauty of the word of God there.
In the meantime I have reverted (that means that I have been baptised and confirmed Roman Catholic; as almost everybody in Austria, Europe.) back to the RCC 'though (via a Charismatic Catholic Renewal congregation.)
But I've really learned a lot (especially about the Bible) in these Baptist and Pentecostal Churches and I am really grateful that God took me there.

Anyway here is your question .......who were the three men that met lot at his tents door on the plain of Mamre ?
They were Angels of God. - To be precise avenging angels, given the fact that they destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah after visiting Abraham.
Abraham calls them my lord (singular), so you could also say that they were God himself. The story is to be found in Genesis 18.

My turn:
Q: What was Jakeh's son's name?

You are partially correct , it was two angels and God , actually Jesus because Jesus tells us no man has ever seen God but if you have seen Jesus you have seen the Father . Good enough though , I do not know this one off the top of my head !! But I will soon LOL

Read Jerimiah 4:23-26 and tell me roughly when this occurred ? Good luck !!

It could be the last day when this will occur.
I didn't know that verse I like it. It reminds me of a techno song by a German Dance Project. (They have three themes in their album, one is called The Darkness, one The Testament and one The Prophecy. - And this verse reminds me of the last track on the CD The Prophecy called Now it is silent.)

But I would say it is when the Assyrians or Babylonians, not sure which one of these two, captured Jerusalem and Juda; I mean before the Jews were captured and braught to Babylon.

Well it said and lo ALL the cities were broken down and there was no man ....... There has always been man on the earth since their creation , even with the flood of Noah . This is describing the 1st earth age which was destroyed in Genesis 1:2 . I can teach you of it if you like but meant dent this truth .

If it is talking about the Babylonian invasion of Judah, then the Hebrew ha'erets does not mean 'the earth', it means 'the land' of Judah.

Really because my Strongs concordence says " erets " for earth in my KJV bible , I don't know what you are using but the word in Hebrew is erets and means earth, world , cou try and others but not the land of Judah .

I'm sorry but I've never heard of an old earth age or that the earth has been destroyed after its creation or so. Are you sure that's orthodox teaching?

Yes I would also say so. If you read further it's clear that the invasion must be meant imo.

No it is not orthodox teaching , it should be though . There is plenty of biblical evidence for it , in the original languages , for instance read psalm 90:1-2 .

Esdra I will fie you a little advice , DO NOT EVER trust mans interpretation of the bible , check things out yourself , get a Strongs concordence and a good bible dictionary like Smiths and do your own homework . The verses I cited in Jeremiah in verse 4:23 the person you responded to says that word for world means the land of Judah in Hebrew . This statement is COMPLETELY WRONG and he is either using a bad commentary bible or googled one or he is an out and out liar , I will go with the first but never trust in man always put your faith in God .

Never mind. Let's don't argue about bible interpretations.

Just answer my question. I mean this is the purpose of this thread. ;)

So Esdra I ask a question and someone comes on and gives you the wrong answer , I point this out advising you to always check the work yourself and you get mad at me ORDERING ME " just answer the question " . THat is pretty rude of you given the fact I was and did answer the incorrect answer .

My last post wasn't meant rude at All! I am sorry that it came across like that. And I am not mad at you.
By the way, that's an orthodox forum and you gave me an unorthodox answer as you yourself admitted (which is against the rules in this part of the forum).
And I think it is also against the rules to debate doctrine in here as well.
I just wanted to tell you politely (and maybe I formulated the last post poorly which can happen as English is not my native language) that we should not debate a bible interpretation but that you could, if you wanted to, answer. The next question.
I am really sorry...

I was not debating doctrine or even his view on what the verse meant but I did and will always point out a glaring misinterpretation of a word to suit ones views , again I encourage you to never take the word of anyone and check the info yourself. By him taking the Hebrew word for world and saying it means the land of Judah is not true , like I said he very well beliees what he wrote but is Rey much wrong which is easily proved by looking in a Strongs concordence.

As far as giving an unorthodox answer are you suggesting that. Should not give my interpretation of a bible verse if it conflicts with the church's views , I was catholic for 48 years and have never officially renounced it , does that make my answer anymore or less valid ? I hate hypocrisy and this is why I don't attend church . The forum rules are in place as to not cause strife amongst partakers but the fact is it promotes separation of the church just like Satan wants. I see many on this site quick to cite forum rules and report others , I guess they have missed the truth of Jesus and His teachings by not turning the other cheek . Tis is why I stopped posting back in 2011 and after witnessing the same old same old , the words of Jesus ring true in this microcosm of His body , there is nothing new under the sun what was, will be again . Peace .
