  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Older Stars* -> Sun ->* Earth.

*Stars are still forming so Some Stars Before the Earth,Some After.
The Earth was probably forming / starting to come together at the same time the Sun was forming. Also our Sun is still changing, and has a way to go before it finishes its cycle.

Lets see who's who.

Earth before the Sun and stars or Sun and stars before the Earth?
Earth before the Sun and stars --

Frumious Bandersnatch gets the credit for this oldie:

I'll have a try. I think this is about right.
light
stars
water (in the universe)
earth/water on earth/land/atmosphere (firmament is meaningless)
moon
first aquatic life
insects
angiosperms/birds
grass
whales
Modern humans (if that is what you mean by man and woman)

PS There were plants long before there were angiosperms and I don't if by water you mean H2O or liquid water.

Ending there, as well.

I sure hope not. If so...
Even if AV holds views which are... Peculiar and - in my opinion narrow-minded and yes (I'll be completely honest) self-exalting - that does not mean he's a bad person. Anyone can be fooled, and be fooled severely. And I don't know him well enough to cast such judgment on him. I held similar views twelve+ years ago, and I'd have done very much indeed for the poor and oppressed given a present need.

I think he's due some benefit of the doubt.

It's a long story, but I have my own theory as to [one of] the reasons 9/11 and Aum Shinri Kyo (sp.?) went down.

Long story short, AV thinks the atheists incited the Muslims who crashed into the WTC and the Japanese cultist who gassed the subway.

I guess. The path is short from one crazed conspiracy theory to another.

Still, is it right AV? I'd have this from the horse's mouth.
I can't remember the whole conversation, but the argument goes something like this:

In a conversation I had earlier, I asked if atheists (or scientists) went after the Muslims as vehemently as they do us.

Someone (Wiccan Child, I think) said, Yes, in fact, on the Muslim servers, they go after the Muslims worse than they go after us.

And it occurred to me that, since we're pestered to hunt witches or else we're hypocrites; are the Muslims pestered to handle the "Great Satan" as well; and WC said, "yes".

Therefore I conclude that atheists have pestered Muslims in the past to 'do something', just as we're pestered to 'do something'; and I assume that, on the Japanese servers, the Hindu were pestered to 'do something'.

I'm not saying that's why they did it, I'm just saying they were pestered to "do something".

"Go after us"? is this a pathological need to feel persecuted, or what?

Here is an excellent book on this subject:

I had the pleasure of conversing with Dr. Grady in person.
Thanks. I used to think of the US as a sort of Christian nation. I think that was a mistaken notion, despite the millions of Christians there.

hee hee.

My favorites were a historical geology course, and a paleo course.

i took them coz my boyfriend was in them, now Im glad I did!

Why are you taking geology?
It is the last course in my BS Computer Science degree. I wasn't excited about taking it, but it is an interesting subject. I am beginning to notice things around me that I never noticed in the past.

Erm. Well in a sense... The deed on 9-11 didn't happen in a vacuum. But death, destruction, war and nation-scale theft was more to blame than Internet discussions. And - I should add - those American presidents who have meddled in the middle east with death war and more as consequence have all been Christian. In word if not in deed. So.. Don't blame atheist chatter for that when others oppress, kill, maim and steal

AV has been incapable of comprehending that that we don't want him burning witches. We're merely curious as to why, as a self-professed literalist, he doesn't follow the Bible in that respect.

Yes. Curious how literalists don't read the bible literally, isn't it?

Good though. I don't want to be killed because I decide to work on the sabbath.

Besides, I like my face shaven. And I like being able to sit on chairs my wife has used during 'that time' of the month. AND I don't think I'm actually physically part of a building...

The bible makes no sense when read literally.

No one says we are infallible. Strawman. God is. Jesus spoke of the flood, and etc. Take it or leave it...are the options. I take it. Better cool your jets palsy, on the wild eyed accusations. Play nice. Science is satanic, yes. But that is not personal, sunny.

You're getting awfully flustered there, kiddo. Someone touch a nerve there, chief?

Ohoho YES, it IS personal! VERY personal!

And yes, if you claim you can read the bible without error you are claiming infallibility, which is hubris to the point of blasphemy. Calling other people devil worshippers for studying God's creation is vile, disrespectful and yes, sub-human in the sense that it does not befit a decent human being, much less a CHRISTIAN to act that way.
