  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not really.

So why don't you read it then? Why don't you actually address my points?

Then why did I make this doosey of a post: 11 ?

So given that you (seem to) understand how evolution works, why do you think it doesn't happen?

Oh, that's right. You say there hasn't been enough time for it, and then you said there was something else that prevents macroevolution from occuring. What was that again? You never really explained it.

So, while I doconsider cartoon flinging childish I figured I'd respond in kind this time.

It's amazing how many creationists think cartoons somehow prove their stance, no matter how fallacious the arguments presented. And yes, your cartoon was fallacious. I am not so sure this always is though. Most creationists I have spoken with appear frightened by the idea of being wrong, or feel that science threatens their faith. A position born of and breeding fear for many.

I've said so before, if you believe your position has merit then go ahead. Prove it. There's a nobel prize in it for you. In fact, one for every field of science there is. So perhaps instead of posting cartoons you could start studying and work your hindside off. To quote my chemistry professor:
"What stands between any one of you *looks at auditorium* and a nobel prize is merely a serious amount of work."

Nathan, start a thread on this subject so we can keep this one on topic. I think your thread would be very interesting discussion. let me know what you think and when and if you start it.

Unfortunately, such a thread would be best suited to General Apologetics, but the admins shut that forum down a long time ago for varius reasons.

Since we're talking about Creation and Evolution, and since the Creationist reading of these matters is based solely on their interpretation of the Bible (as you yourself have already demonstrated), then this is as good a place as any to keep the discussion going.

<shameless self-promotion>

Of course, you could always post in This Thread.

Pretty much anything goes there.

You say there is a barrier. What is this barrier, and why would it be in place? What really begs that question is, why does it not appear to be there if it is? Why no evidence of it?

Relax FG, You can still believe in evolution. By the way, I just watched my daughters caterpillar turn into a Butterfly within 2 weeks. I still believe in creation.

BTW, I love the cartoons you posted. Seems you have no problem standing on your true faith and religion. Oh and unlike you and evolution, I don't need to prove what the word of God says, I only need believe it.

Interesting your cartoons call the earth, space, life and nature "She"

I'm a guy. I think women are FAR more beautiful than men, and I consider all God's creation exceptionally beautiful. ;-)

As for God's word, I don't see that you DO believe what it says. What I see is that you believe what you want and use the bible to back it. Your position is falsified, you refuse to accept what God tells us through His creation. In other words I see no difference between you and ye olde geocentrists.

Please do answer, what is the difference between their credibility and yours.

It's not abot credibility, it's about security.

As I've said many times before -- people embrace mythology because of the sese of security it provides; imposing order over an unknown and uncertain world.

The tighter they embrace it, the more security they need.

Your arguments get more and more ridiculous.

A quota? Your explanation of the mechanism that stops evolution from changing animals too far is that evolution can't change animals too far?

WHY?
The 'mechanism' is God.

He has, in my opinion, made a boundary that evolution cannot cross.

Why would it be a problem?

Languages which retain a gender based language (Such as French) have most of these as feminine, it's just the way it is.

La terre, La vie, la nature.

Sorry, it tripped in my mind (as things do you know?) and felt like posting

So there is a mechanism. But you have no scientific evidence. You have no Biblical evidence. Sounds to me like you are just making up things so you don't have to actually critically examine where your beliefs are leading you.

So, when it comes down to it, your reason macroevolution can't be true is because you really really don't want to believe in it.

That is interesting, to concede that evolution is a mechanism that would lead to the exactly the results we see.....but god prevents it happening!

Well, if you read the Bible, you'll see how God has a history of tryng to prevent things from happening -- and failing.

Tried to keep Adam and Eve innocent in the Garden -- FAIL.
Tried to obliterate evil with a flood -- FAIL.
Tried to divide humanity at Babel -- FAIL.

So it makes perfect sense that He'd try to stop evolution -- and fail.

There could be erosion but not macro erosion!
There can be a landslide, an alpine stream can carry some silt away but, you know, it will still and always be a mountain! Never just a hill, or erode away totally.

There is no way a mountain can wash to the sea. That would result in a change of kind. Not allowed.
Stop that! You will confuse me. I will hold you personally responsible, if I fail my Physical Geology exam. :D

And do you have ANY indication that this is actual fact? Or is it pure speculation?

I have no problem with speculation so long as it is labelled such. It's a useful thought-game many times.
