What is the WORK of ANGELS more than, or in addition to - 'KEEPING US'...?

OR...is this the entire scope of what angels do...?

Psalms 91:11
For he shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways
. KJV
restin

Edit: add...What is the role of angels, as given in the scriptures...?

why would a God who is everywhere, is all-powerful and knows everything need angels?

In my OP, I am hoping to discuss the roll of angels, not whether God 'needs' them or not.

So, I did an EDIT to the OP to clarify, adding...

What is the role of angels, as given in the scriptures...?

sometimes in scripture humans thought they were seeing angels and it was really God... sometimes in scripture angels mean messenger which could be human or divine... sometimes angels seem to be a symbol for something else completely... so then, which road shall we explore first....

Exodus gives illustration of an angel that will fight the battles and drive out the enemy...however this angel does not pardon, does not forgive...

Exodus 23:20-23

20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way,
and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not;
for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.

22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak;
then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto
thine adversaries.

23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the
Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites,
and the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off. KJV

A few more thoughts about how God uses angels to reveal His revelations...
Rev 1:1
1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;
and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: KJV
REVELATION from GOD > Jesus Christ > to his angel > to his servant
other scriptures that also tie in to this...

Acts 7:52-53
52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? ....
53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels,
and have not kept it. KJV

Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? ....
and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. KJV
Brings up the question...are angels the 'HANDS' of God...?

I think God's idea for conveying a message is God > the individual... He wants to interact with us personally... I believe I understand what you are saying, however the case can be made that God is more than willing to give the message to whomever himself and is not tied to the steps you have outlined....

I believe God Almighty is a 'consuming fire'. And, in the next life, Jesus will be mediator for eternity (that goes/connects between redeemed human beings and God). What I read in scripture, is the angels of God are given their work with human beings in this life, according to a divine plan.

......Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire. KJV

I am reminded somewhat of the radioactive comic book character Dr. Manhattan.

I do not understand the fire of God as out of control or untargeted. In my experience, it is consumptive of dross. When there is no more dross, there is no more need for consumption.

But even that metaphor runs contemporaneously with the metaphors of artisanship: vessel formation and temple building. Things aren't crafted at arms length -- these are indications of intimacy.

Veiled relationships only go so far, which is why grooms take their brides' veils off.

Agreed....This relationship is unveiled between the bride and the groom. However, it is the groom that is taking a wife, not the FATHER! From this point forward, the bride's relationship to the Father is ONLY through the groom, now husband!

In another sense, the removing of the veil, removes the need for angels to take care of and look after this soul who now has a husband to do that service in a closer relationship called marriage.

God has bound us all over to angel worship. Then when we do bow down and worship the angel, the angel is authorized to reprove us for worshiping the creature instead of the Creator.

This is how we are taught to have no other gods before the Lord our God who brought us up out of the house of bondage.
