  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What to you is the best Anime ever? To me it is Vampire Hunter D. I love watching Bloodlust and i am also a big fan of Vampires.
Thats a hard one for me. For about a month I have been watching Naruto and I have to say that is the best anime in my opinion (with the Manga being even better). I personally prefer animes where each character has their own little story that is woven into the larger picture (which if they stick to the manga will happen more so then it currently is). I also like seeing characters that have faults and problems but overcome them in a way that doesn't make me want to barf from over-sweetness. I also like seeing series where you actually begin to feel for the enemy/bad guy.
My second would be Fruits Basket which has fully rounded characters (but not as rounded as Naruto). It has a lot of funny moments and a lot of moments which cause a lump in the throat (which the naruto manga does as well).

My favorite manga would have to be Ranma 1/2. The jokes never seem to stop being humorous. Yet, I wasn't particularly fond of the anime for some reason. Just didn't have that Takahashi charm I guess.

So, for my particular anime... It's tough. I did enjoy the movie Princess Mononoke a great deal, I suppose.

hmm hard choice. I have to agree with Moonless and choose Ranma 1/2. It's one of the funniest manga I've ever read.

For anime, Tenchi is pretty good. But I'm debating against Yu-Gi-Oh and the Ranma 1/2 anime. Both of them really have a way of getting you into it. I really prefer action anime over romance. :)

I think I'm the only one here whose favorite animes so far are Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. :)

Sure, both have been overplayed, overpraised, edited for TV, have fans that are some of the most ignorant in anime fandom ever, and all the other bad things you can say about popular animes, especially those CN has aired-nevertheless, aside from those things (which aren't intrinsic to the series themselves, just the pitfalls of a well-deserved popularity) they are very good anime, and both IMHO classics of anime. :)

I also happen to think Big O is a good series. (Sure, unfortunate title, but it is NOT a hentai at all! It doesn't even have much fanservice-in fact, it has much less than many other series.) It's a legit mecha series, although I think season 1 was the best. Season 2, the American influence showed too much, IMHO-and it was better as a Bebop-like episodic series (i.e. the first 10 episodes) rather than as a constantly "to be continued" series (as it was from episode 11 onward)

/me ducks back into anonymity to avoid flying tomatoes ;) and thrown rotten fruit

I haven't watched Cowboy Bebop (that should deflect a few tomatoes) but I did really enjoy Trigun. It is in my top 10! I only saw a handful of Big O episodes when I was in the states for a month a few years back, but maybe I was watching the wrong episodes but I really found it lacking (sorry).

Yeah, no wonder you found it lacking if it was a few years ago-the Toonami edited version removed everything from character deaths to the starting keyword for Roger's mech so it would be "acceptable for Toonami standards."

LOL, IIRC the mech startup line was changed to "Cast in the name of truth and justice," or "Cast in the name of good" which, while it seemed like a silly edit (or even a "good" edit to some), removed an important point of the plot. >.< Also, the assassinations of the Paradigm Senators by the serial killer android (which the Toonami edit glossed over) were important points of the plot.

If you want to see Season One as it was meant to be seen, watch it on the DVDs or, if they play the series through another time, as the only totally unedited anime series on the late night block (because, honestly, there wasn't that much in dire need of an edit once the audience was fourteen and up-most of the Toonami edits, aside from the mech startup line, were violence edits/death reference edits-which also took away from the impact of the series and the plot IMHO.)

I love Cowboy Bebop and Trigun! But I would have to name DiGi Charat as the best anime...it's AWESOME! Everyone go watch it!

It was May of 2001 or 2002......but I see that there was a decent storyline to it (all I saw was a lot of unanswered questions.....enought that the show wasn't too captivating to watch).
I guess though that I might have to give it another shot!
