Forgive the slightly misleading title...

I don't really want to slam Hinn, that's been done to death. I have a legitimate (I think) question concerning his followers. Do you think his "congregation" is saved or are they in big trouble?

The reason I ask is because I think, as do a lot of others, that HE is a fruitcake. But if his followers believe in Jesus and the resurrection and proclaim Him as their Lord and Savior and follow His Word would they not be saved? Even if they are so naive and gullible as to believe Hinn's "wonders?"

I don't know enough about him to say anything but could you shed some light on what exactly he teaches that would send his followers to hell?

Not that I am a fan of Benny Hinn, but I think it needs to be pointed out that no person can know if another is saved or not. The fruit can sometimes give a good indication, but it's a heart condition, more so, that only the Lord knows.

Just my 0.005 cents worth.

The question is if his followers have the genuine gospel and believe in the same Jesus that is presented in the Bible.

I think that his followers are sincere, God-loving people ...if they are honoring God with what they know to be true, and if they are seeking to gain wisdom in Him and not Hinn, then I would say they have the heart that God is seeking...

What is more difficult to answer is the status of Hinn. I am not going to make any judgement here but I do know that he has put himself in a serious position of power and authority to teach MANY people... one that I would not be too careless with in light of James 3:1.

I think that his followers are sincere, God-loving people who have just fallen prey to a minipulating man with an incomplete gospel...if they are honoring God with what they know to be true, and if they are seeking to gain wisdom in Him and not Hinn, then I would say they have the heart that God is seeking...

And so what is it that he teaches that is so different than what the Bible teaches? I mean it's awfully easy to bad mouth a guy but when it comes time to prove those things don't run from it.

Honestly though I don't know too much about him. I know he is a faith healer. Is it the fact that he claims jesus heals through him that you don't like? As for fruit I do know he preached to a crowd of 4.8 million people in India with thousands upon thousands of them giving their lives to Christ so if the question is about fruit I'd say that's a pretty big fruit tree!

I believe Hinn brings alot of people to Christ. I just hope his organization follows up and gets the new converts in good, grounded churches that will nurture and help them grow.

I know there's been a lot of scandal involved with Benny. Like that's rare in televangelism circles. I don't know if all of it's true or not, and don't really care. Like I said, I believe he brings alot of people to Christ.

I personally don't watch him because of the overproduction of his shows. He really needs to study Billy Graham's style.

I personally do not like him - however, I think God can work through anyone or anything. God knows his children and their hearts - I guess I'll leave it at that. ;)

Tas,

what do you think of the links I gave on my previous post here on this thread? (pg1)
As you are not the author I dont see why I should dispute what is said with you. Do you have first hand knowledge of how Benny Hinn has wronged you If so I would be glad to hear about it and I suppose Benny would too

The Sentinal link was clearly a "let's bash Hinn" parade. I wouldn't take much stock in anything it says.

The Christiansaware site did look worthy of giving an honest opinion.

The one and only thing from that site that would seem to damm Hinn in my opinion is that he places guilt upon the people who are not healed by telling them they have little faith. Isn't this what jesus said also? So far I have to say my jury is still out.

I have to say that until you can provide evidence of any financial fraud within his ministry I don't see anything by Hinn that would send him or his followers to hell.

Several of my friends haave been to a live Hinn production, and they have come away with some interesting conclusions...mostly that he is fine, but that he really doesn't say anything about God other than that God is healing the people that come up front.

One of my friends said that Hinn actually did heal the guy that he went there with. The guy had an amputated leg, and he said that his leg began to grow back during the performance... later though, he talked to the guy and there has been no actual growth to his leg.

The healing ministry, although I do not really believe in all of the healings that are being proclaimed, is not my greatest concern. What does concern me is what Hinn presents as the gospel. I think that he is sincerely misguided in his understanding of the Gospel and Christianity...two fatal mistakes even if God has healed people on his tours.

Jesus healed many people who lacked faith in him. Also, physical healing of people was not an end in itself...what Jesus wants for people is that they are spiritually well, not physically well. Sure God heals people...he has even healed my mom of cancer! I believe in God's healing power, but I think that the power of God is only a part of the gospel, not the whole thing.
