I am being blackmailed by a man that I met online. He is accusing me of using his credit card at his home to make a online purchase. Said that if I do not pay him back that money he will put me in jail. God knows that I did not do this and I know I did not do this. What do I do about this situation? Contact the local law inforcement in his area about this? Thanks Betty

In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

nobody has the right to threaten you like that and obviously people do not just go to jail on someone's word. there is the legal process first, the trial...obviously if you did not do this crime, there is nothing he can do, you could go to the police in his city so they are aware of the situation, explain to them that you are being blackmailed as well! I will pray for you tonight, I can tell you are worried about this! best of luck to you and keep us posted on the situation! love and blessings!

You can talk to them. It does not hurt to talk, the police are suppose to be there to provide a service to the community. After all, our tax dollars pays for them. So you maybe able to get some advice from them.
Also, if he really was going to go to the police, it could look better for you to get there first. It is a lot easier to establish truth, when there are no lies involved.

this may be a federal type of incident. It sounds like he is trying to extort money from you over the internet. If he lives in another state, it definitely is federal. Call the FBI. NO JOKE> DO IT!

It could very well be that he IS blackmailing you, but he is likely just trying to scam you. He's trying to get you to give him money under threat.
Go straight to the police. It's probably not the first or only case of this that they have seen. They will know how to deal with this man.

Thank you for your prayers. I have contacted the sheriff's department of where this man lives at and have informed them what he is up to. They told me that there has not been a report filed on me. Also I contacted the police department in the same town and they told me they do not take reports from people that live outside of the city limits. The sheriff dept. handles that.
I ask that you pray for this man and ask God to shut this man's mouth up in the name of Jesus.

Not sure if or when they will investigate this man that is trying to blackmail me. Also I contacted his work place and made them aware of this situation. Even as Christians we have that right to stand up to anyone that is making false accusations against us. But would I have that right to take this man to court since he is not a Christian?
