I haven't shaved in three days, so I'm getting a beard.

I did not shave/pluck for about a week because I was very dizzy due to BPPV, went through an ENG, and did not trust myself with a shaver or the tweezers.

Guess what? I developed a moustache, not made of milk but the real thing. It had to go before I went to church. My son mentioned that at the local Greek Orthodox Church, several yiayias have feminine moustches and beards. I did not want to embarrass him.

What do Orthodox Nuns do?

I saw some pictures and it looks like they also have lots of facial hairs resembling beards.

MMmm Yes, I've met very few nuns, but the few that I've met who are elderly are rocking the chin hairs.

I'm looking forward for hubby to be done with the Navy in just over two years so he can grow a beard. He can grow quite an impressive one in two weeks, that will make some jealous, so we have to see what the actual deal will look like.

Hate to tell you. Grew my fisrt full beard, freshman year- of High School. Flame red beard, blonde mustache. Few months later it caught up with the beard

If you click on my profile picture thingy right there you'll see a wannabe beard... it's like a strip right up the center doesn't grow in. Like a reverse Hitler, or something.

My best friend Nick has had a full grown beard and stache since 6th grade... got that from his father. I'm jealous of all of you!

the army sadly keeps me smooth skinned, but I can grow a pretty rocking beard when I get some leave.

I think that it's the goal of most when they get leave... hence the two week beard. That's the max we've seen the past umm, 7.9 years... Then again, the other half has a 1 o'clock shadow so in all reality he should shave twice a day but he just doesn't care much anymore.

I have a short-haired full beard. I keep it trimmed as best as I kind because of the restaurant work. When I was in JROTC in high school I had to shave once a week before we wore our uniforms, so naturally I haven't shaved since graduation 2008!

I shaved it once about six months ago... it just wasn't the same.

I have short hair and a trimmed beard...have to stay respectable in my job.

We have a reader who doesn't shave from Nativity to Pascha each year...gets the serious Rasputin beard with the long point going. Then shaves it off clean when he get's home from Paschal liturgy.

Prior to joining the military, I had 5+ inch beard but now I'm all clean shaven (well, I have a 5 o'clock shadow at 10 am, but, you know, I do what I can) and I do miss the beard (as soon as I retire it's coming back with a venegence either that or a Dali stache). My advice for growing and keeping a beard is to maintain it and keep it stylized. No one really likes a mountain man beard. I looked at old photos of beards (mostly those of the European nobility) for ideas of how to keep mine looking nice, styles, etc. Just my two cents. Neat thread.
