As a kid, I couldn't stand him, because as the article says he "almost single handedly defeated the Cincinnati Reds in the 1970 world series". RIP to the "human vacuum cleaner"

Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer and Boob Powell. A formidable bunch.

I remember when they had Jim Palmer, Pat Dobson, and 2 other pitchers all 20 game winners in the same season, I think. Back when they pitched complete games.

...some of my earliest memories of MLB, watching the O's and manager Earl Weaver.

Which is why the Orioles were expected to cruise right over the [checks notes] Pittsburgh Pirates.
Clemente and company weren’t having it though.

Probably the second ws that I watched every game of (1970 Cincinnati -Baltimore the first). My dad had tickets to the 72 series ( Cincinnati-Oakland). I was at the game that they introduced Jackie Robinson in the pregame- his last public appearance
