Saltsman is a total fool for distributing the song, and it proves he is unfit to hold high office for the GOP.

The song however, as aired by Limbaugh is not the least bit offensive to me, because it was written for a specific reason, and it's intent was obvious to anyone who listens to Rush, and anyone who isn't trying to score points for the DEM machine.

Too bad the media at large are so willfully up the bums of the Liberal Establishment. Rush gets tossed around and called a bigot for all sorts of things, and in reality he simply illustrates the absurdity of today's political discourse. Sadly, even many big time players in the GOP are clueless.

I long for the days of Ronald Reagan and William F. Buckley.

Mega dittos, there guy!

He is a total fool? I would have just said he was your typical Republican old fat white guy, but there is something to say for being succinct, I suppose.

Yes, meaning is always contextual. The fact that the song was sent to the RNC by a Republican because he just thought it was funny in all context shows that he is a – total fool, as you mentioned. But in the context Limbaugh used it, it is racist, obviously, because Limbaugh is a racist, obviously.

…Too bad the media at large are so willfully up the bums of the Liberal Establishment...

Ah, yes, if it weren’t for that nasty old liberal establishment just a fooling most of the people most of the time the Republican party would reign supreme in the land. Isn’t that the most special dream?

…Rush gets tossed around and called a bigot for all sorts of things, and in reality he simply illustrates the absurdity of today's political discourse. Sadly, even many big time players in the GOP are clueless. ...

Most big time players in the GOP seem clueless these days. It would seem that the more the general public got a clue the more clueless the GOP became - funny how that works, isn’t it? And, BTW, Limbaugh is called a bigot simply because he IS a bigot – a big fat bigot. Any disinterested person can readily discern this by listening to his show one time on a typical day.

I long for the days of Ronald Reagan and William F. Buckley...

Well, you can long for the Russian Tzars to come back too, but there are some things best left in the past.

What you have now is Ronald Reagan’s children, most of whom vote Democrat, and William F. Buckley’s son, who has denounced what passes for “conservatism” in today’s GOP, and who said he voted for Obama - as did most of Nixon’s, Eisenhower’s children, not to mention FDR’s.

...blah, blah, blah...

I haven't been around this board very long, and I have a feeling I will become redundant before long in my saying this, but again I say- people who are ignorant, should really refrain from discussion. Especially those who speak from such an authoritative stance. All it does is illustrate your weakness as a thinker.

You are wrong in everything you said, with the exception of Buckley's son, but even there your reasoning is flawed due to your myopic view. He voted for Obama because the GOP lost it's way. Not because conservative ideology is the wrong way.

The GOP is clueless because they are not conservative. Dear Arnie is about to send Cali into financial oblivion. McCain was a liberal Republican, and I myself am glad he lost. At least we won't have Cap and Trade become law under the banner of the Elephant.

So anyway, thanks tons for your insightful goobers. Next time your favorite Reality TV show is off the air though, maybe you'd be better off baking some cookies, or reading the latest issue Time or posting over at Daily Kos.

Thanks for playing. You rock.

Brilliant argument – almost irrefutable. Are you, per chance, a member of Mensa?

I don’t believe I indicated that Christopher Buckley or any of the other children have become Marxists or whatever. They have rejected the Republican party for what it has become.

Of course. In order to win again the Republican party must give MORE support to free-wheeling robber baron capitalism. Less regulations – more money into the pockets of the rich. Screw the poor, the lazy bums. And screw the middle-class if they can't keep up. Repeal Social Security - it's SOCIALIST. And public highways and bridges are socialism too.

You are indeed a genius, sir.

Right now I am rereading the works of the Bard. I have no time for such silliness as you suggest. In turn I would NOT suggest you watch Fox fair and balanced news, read National Review while pleasuring yourself, or posting all day on the National Storm Front website – but you’re going to do such anyway, aren’t you?

Thanks for playing. You rock.

And you roll. <staff edit>

Run along now, darling. It seems you have left your thinking cap in another room.

Be warned, jgl's response to being intellectually bested is to put you on his ignore list. I've been on it for over a year. And, of course, he's been bested so often that dozens upon dozens fill his ignore list. Won't be long before he's just talking to himself. I guess that will make his online life just like his offline life.

Yes it is, though it has nothing to do with the word.

It has to do with using ethnicity/color/melanin as a means to discriminate. And it discriminates against everyone who doesn't fit into their definition of "negro".

Is this good or bad? I guess it would depend, but it is racist in its function nonetheless.

Personally all "collectivism" performs this same discrimination function. Where what "group" you are in (whether choice or not) is more important then the "individual" you are.
The UNCF had to be created because of racism. This is truly unbelievable. Get discriminated against at the workplace, schools, denied your constitutional rights and looked upon as subhuman, and when you DO something about it (creating organizations that support your people), you're now racist. ^_^
From the Q&A page of UNCF:
Q: Does UNCF only support African American education?
A:UNCF was founded to address inequities in the educational opportunities afforded to African Americans. UNCF believes in higher education opportunities for all Americans. UNCF-member schools do not discriminate and UNCF-administered scholarships are open to all.

I get tired of the 'victim' attitude that a lot of people display. These tend to be the same people that complain about another group's supposed 'victim' attitude.

A small mind delivers small insults.
Interesting that you are spot on....

I've come to the conclusion that the GOP has pretty much conceded the African-American vote and are just trying to solidify their base even more. At this point, they don't care if they offend anybody except members of their loyal base. I wouldn't be surprised if they intentionally throw stuff out that could be conscrued as racist, and when the "left" calls them on it, snicker and say they can't take a joke and accuse them of playing the "race card." The good ol boys and gals will have a good guffaw, and the loyal blacks in the GOP won't mind, cause they can take a joke and want to be accepted. And if the "left" continues to complain, all the GOP has to do is to remind everybody how evil, wicked, mean and nasty the "left" was to that poor, innocent white woman, Sarah Palin, and her sweet family.

Yeah, because the 'base' that needs to be consolidated is made up entirely of people who are friendly towards racism and flirt with it.

That is incredibly offensive and untrue and you should check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Calling us all a bunch of racists demonstrates a profound amount of hatred you have for us.

Ridiculous.

Wow, I am new here and somewhat confused, is this really a christian forum in which the we are discussing whether a racially offensive song is funny or acceptable? Naw, it couldn't be.

Comedy often uses racism as the punchline. This does not make comedy racist.
What does this forum being Christian have anything to do with the discussion?

Being offended by something does make that thing inherently wrong.

I am offended by the phrase Native American when only used to describe American Indians. Anyone born on American soil is Native American, including myself. So should Native American be off limits for discussion in a Christian forum?

It's not apples and oranges either. The subject is "offensive things".

The UNCF had to be created because of racism.
Then it seems they are using racism to combat racism (so to speak). Which creates a type of paradox the way only collectivism can.

You are a racist if you use the collective concept of "race" to discriminate. It is really that simple.

If this is true then how often does their decisions not use race as a discriminating attribute? How many examples do you know of that show such an assumption to be incorrect? In other words, how may individuals do not fit into their category "negro" that receive scholarships? Do you have any examples of Mexicans, Asians, Eskimos, etc... getting a scholarship on merits that don't have to do with race?

The best way to fight racism (collectivism) is through individualism. Using some type of collectivism to fight some other collectivism just creates a logical paradox.

You may join the club of ignorance as a charter member. Congrats on your lack of vocabulary skills.

Stick to stuff you know, chum.
Now you are posting exactly like the other person you criticize. :D:D

I would not be surprised if you were a sock of the other

Will you announce to all that you are going to put me on your ignore list?

It just seems a little odd to me that any offensive remark would be defended, especially when those who bear the image of God and are commanded to love one another. I don't see the love on either side. I guess I understand better now when asked "What does being a Christian Forum have anything to do with it? I just thought the standard was higher for belivers, maybe even biblically higher. My bad.
