I'm getting baptised next week! However it's really complicated. I wanted to get baptized when I got saved when I was 14, but my parents were really against it. So I didn't because I was advised by my pastor to obey my parents. Now I'm not under my parents and i'm getting baptised, but i'm scared to tell them. I just don't want to deal with them trying to talk me out of it or being harsh with me when i'm going to do it anyways. It's important to me to be obedient to God and show that He is in control in my life. Should I tell them and invite them or tell them afterwards?????? I just don't know.

One would think, (going my your proclaimed age ;) ) that you're old enough to make there own decisions - and they should realise this!! You don't have to ask them any more if you can get baptised. I'd say, go ahead an invite them! If they don't want to come, so be it.

But they'd find out sooner or later anyway, and they may be quite put out that you didn't tell them beforehand.

Then again, I don't know them...

I agree with stanselm, you are old enough to make your own decisions. You have to obey and be obediant to god rather than man,yes we are to honor our parents but not to the extent that we disobey god.So i think you should tell them and even invite them and if they refuse and start in on you, then you still need to get baptized anyway and let the lord deal with them.So congrats and god bless.

If you are sure of Christ then tell them boldly and invite them to observe. It sounds like that might be hard to accomplish, but you may help soften their hearts and save their souls with your testament of action. God loves you very much. Our Shepherd loves us each like His most prized lamb, so love everyone tenderly. Our Father roars like a lion, so let no fear dwell in your heart.

Peace-

Thanks for the advice. I thought I should tell them anyways. I live with my parents so it does put me in an akward position, but I suppose truth and light is better than keeping it from them. I just don't want to go through the verbal tearing down. bleh. But life is never easy I suppose.
