  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Mark 7:23 all these the wicked things inside is going-out/ekporeuetai <1607> (5736), and is contaminating the man.

Reve 16:14 For they are spirits of demons doing signs which is going-out/ekporeuesqai <1607> (5738) on the kings of the land, and the being-homed, whole, to-be-together-assembling/sunagagein <4863> (5629) them into the battle of the Day, that the Great, of the GOD, the Almighty.

Baptism is not a tool but an act. :) For we are saved by Grace through faith and not of works..
The Ephesians "faith" included baptism.

==From Eph 2:8 their faith is what saved them:

Eph 2:8==faith>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>saved
1Pet3:21=baptism>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>saves
Eph 5:25=washing of water>>>>>>>>cleansed

"Saved' and "cleansed" are equal, and there is but one way to be saved/cleansed so the Ephesian's faith included baptism or 'washing of water'.

==You can see in Acts 19:5 that Paul baptized some of the Ephesians in the name of the Lord, which is the same baptism of Acts 2:38; 10:47,47.

==Lastly in Eph 1:1-9 Paul tells us the Ephesians were spiritually located "in Christ" or "in Him" and the only way for the Ephesians to be "in Christ' is by baptism, Gal 3:27, only baptism an put one "in Christ"

What people are you referring to?
In Acts 10:44-48, Cornelius and those with him were converted through Peter's message. That they were saved before being baptized is evident from their reception of the Holy Spirit (v. 44) and the gifts of the Spirit (v. 46) before their baptism. Indeed, it is the fact that they had received the Holy Spirit (and hence were saved) that led Peter to baptize them (cf. v. 47).

Baptism is and act.. For it is a verb and not a noun.. How can a prayer save me? Jesus said all who hear and believe.. Now can I believe without first as Peter having the Father reveal to me what was being preached? No,So when God revealed this to me and I agreed with Him then It was Christ who saved me..
As already said baptism is passive, it is in passive voice in Acts 2:38 so it is not something one actively does but submits himself to. One obeys by submitting himself to baptism where God does the work of cutting away the body of sin.

What verse says baptism with the HG saves/remits sins?
What verse in Acts chapter 10 or 11 says Cornelius would be saved by being baptized with the HG?
Can one be saved before hearing the gospel?

I haven't added anything, just harmonizing verses. There is not but one way to be saved and if one verse says 'faith saves' and another says 'baptism saves' then faith must include being baptized.

so why were they baptized ?
Peter was sent to them, and it was not Peter who preached to them, but Cornelius had been living a God-loving life
(I don't find the verse that says they were "saved", though)

One cannot have the Holy Spirit less on is born again saved from Christ. :) the Holy Spirit is the seal. :) For scripture shows us this..
1Jn 5:10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.
1Jn 5:11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
1Jn 5:12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
1Jn 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

We do not see here anywhere about being baptized to know if you have eternal life.

MamaZ, If I may ask, where (or from whom) did you learn all that you know concerning the scriptures?
pax
:D

I would imagine from the same place the Jews do

John 5:39 "Ye are searching the Writings that ye are seeming in them life age-during to be having, and those are the ones-witnessing/testifying about Me".

Reve 6:16 And they are saying to the mountains and to the rocks: 'Be falling upon us! and hide us! from Face of the One-sitting upon the Throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb-kin'

The epistles of John are written to the baptized, though.

Acts 10:43-46 (King James Version)

43To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason he and his houshold were water baptized was to show that they had repented unto remission of sins and were then followers of the one in whose name they were baptized:

Mark 1:4 (King James Version)

4John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Acts 19:5 (King James Version)

5When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ephesian disciples of Acts 19 had been water baptized in the name of John the Baptst. When Paul rebaptized them into the name of Jesus (thus making them Christ's disciples) he laid his hands upon them giving them the powers of the Holy Spirit.
