  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

BC/AD is supposed to date from when Jesus was born. It was found to be off by 4 years, so to really use this system, we have literally just begun the third millennium in which Jesus Christ has been Risen (1-1000=1st, 1001=2000=2nd, 2001).

The BCE/CE continues along the original track, without basing itself on any one marker. Jesus of Nazareth was born 4 BCE, not 1 AD.

I am fully aware of all of that....however, the Jesus event continues to be the marker between eras! Argue it away if you like. :)

it doesnt matter what the marker is, because either way, does it affect your commitment and faith in Christ? Do not fight over meager things, that do not matter, besides, the calendar is a screwed up mess anyway, we really dont know what day it truly is, but does it really matter?

We are not fighting....just having a good old fashioned disagreement over the matter. And, no, it has no bearing on my faith whatsoever and in the classroom I often use the BCE/CE signations and do so in any academic writing that I have done. We are both just having a friendly little jab at each other! :)
