Automatic is a necessity. Put me behind a stick and nobody will be safe.

I'm sure I could learn how to drive a clutch if I just tried, but I've yet to have a reason to do so.

The first couple of lessons I ever got were on a stick shift, just so the instructor could give students a taste of what it was like to drive one. It didn't go well.

Driving with automatics in North America is so much easier. I've driven in Europe with a manual, but over here it's so much easier, so much more driver-friendly.

Oh I've been to Italy; didn't drive there, though. Were you guys from a military family or something? The traffic can be really fast and erratic in Italy.

Seems like Italians like to scream along in little FIAT 500s, with very audible gear changes.

I like to visit Italy; not sure I would want to live there, though.

I have two cars. One is an automatic Subaru station wagon. The other is a 1976 VW Beetle 4 speed manual.

I prefer manual over automatic because I feel like I have better control. But I had to buy the automatic because I was having difficulty with my mobility and had to go automatic.

I really like both cars and I hope to be driving my bug come springtime.

I learned on a manual and I've owned several. I've also owned a couple automatics.

Right now I drive an manual. Not sure what I want the next one to be.

Not sure if I've ever driven a car with a stick.

School bus, 2 1/2 ton truck, family camper built on a 1 ton flatbed with a boat behind it, but no car I recall.

I don't see getting a stick for any car that is going to stay on pavement.
