I don't believe so. If there is a statement on the list that you doctrinally believe is UNTRUE then say you disagree and it will be stricken. If you believe it is TRUE, but something should be added....like it doesn't say enough....then add another statement to the list and we will see if it is universal. If your statement is KNOWN to be a "bone of contention" among the differing denominations I will say so and not add it to the list.

If you only want to reword statements in order to make them more doctrinally correct from your point of view, then we aren't going to do that....the point is to make general statements of truth that ALL Christians can agree upon and that unite us.

Now, if you put in your 2 cents how can that be counterproductive?....unless, of course, you say we should throw out the whole list because you believe none of it is true....in which case you can't honestly call yourself a Christian.

Ok, so you don't disagree that sin displeases God (Elohim) but you want to add in addition "sin separates us from Him"? Will do.....how's this?

We were told we did not have to give reasons, but I gave reasons, in order to not just be negative.

No, you weren't WRONG.....it's just that those types of statement wouldn't be agreed upon by ALL Christians....and so they aren't added. This list isn't formulated to please Catherineanne on every nuance of word meaning...it's purpose is to try and get a list of beliefs that ALL believers can agree are true.

Because there are certain Christians who see "truth" as an abstraction or a concept...like saying 2+2=4 is truth and Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo is truth...and if Jesus is LITERALLY the "truth", does that make Jesus a math formula or a historical fact?? He can't be an abstract thing like "truth"....He is a real person....who is the embodiment of truth. At least that's the way they see it. So I know it is an area of disagreement....so I left it off. That doesn't mean I don't believe it....it just means that it's a statement that all CHristians won't agree with, so it's not on the list.

I know...but so far we've got a pretty long list of things that everyone seems to agree are true. I wish some Mormon's and JW"s would comment on the list. I really want to see if a list can be compiled of those beliefs that are truly UNIVERSAL among ALL Christians. Perhaps those things are the things that have been revealed by God to EVERYONE....and all the other things are just personal interpretations.

Wouldn't it be good to know those things that GOd seems to have revealed to ALL believers as universal truth??

Isn't it amazing that you as an "unorthodox" Mormon hold that many truths in common with "orthodox" Christians?? THere are many things that unite us...and I dare say the list that divides us would be much smaller.
