  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I loved Man From Atlantis as a kid.

I feel so left out growing up here in periphery! When I was a kid, we had whopping two TV channels here in Finland, which broadcasted program between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., in black and white, of course. Man From Atlantis? I just wish.

I don't know why this reminds me of a story I heard which I shall now share. There was an Orthodox Bishop from Greece who visited the US and while there also went to visit someone in the hospital. He, of course, was wearing full monastic garb. Someone made a comment having only seen him from the back that he was the tallest nun they had ever seen, at which point he turned around (proving by the beard that he wasn't a nun to the person who had never likely seen an Orthodox Bishop before) and said, "I am a Lesbian." His translator helped him out a bit and he then clarified, "I am from Lesbos," which, of course, he was. :D

:D

Google commented on this and said those lines were not actually on the earth and were an artifact of it's undersea scanning process... the lines are the shadows reflected from the boats by sonar bouncing off the ocean floor and re-hitting the boats, as they sweep across the ocean mapping the ocean floor... or something like that.

Truth is stranger than fiction, huh?

I believe it said "could be attributed to". They also said, that there was no explanation for the existence of the the blank spaces in between.

In effect, the news story inspires us to think "it's possible". And doesn't give us enough information to prove that it isn't.

I believe that Atlantis existed, and that there were also other intellectually advanced civilizations in the world at that time. But, I also believe that humanity has created itself and destroyed itself a number of times prior to what our written history records. And that we'll more than likely do it again, before we're through. Will some civilization in the future, stumble upon some remnant of our existence, and ask themselves "did it exist"? I'm sure, there will also be skeptics who say "that's impossible, I refuse to believe it."
