I spoke to an atheist who said that when he dies he will just rot in the ground and thats it, nothing more, no conscience, no nothing.

When God destroys those in the lake of fire the same thing happens, they just blink out of existence.

So whats with all the torture in between these two points when in fact these people never believed in Satan or God, so really there wish is to go to the lake of fire, non-existence. Why not just put them in the lake straight away? it is supplying them with what they wanted, is the torture part just a way of saying "nah nah see your wrong and i'm right :p and now your gonna pay"

Yes, the Bible doesn't teach they blink out of existence. Did the rich man in hell blink out of existence? I think all Jesus' talk about hell would've been nonsense if all that happened is blinking out of existence.

Mark 9:41-50
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. 42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. 43 And if thy hand offend F30 thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend F31 thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47 And if thine eye offend F32 thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

- Show Context The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Re 20:10 - Show Context And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
No, atheists won't get what they want. They'll be fully conscious and aware.

what Peppermint Patty said is right; I just want to comment about the "nah, nah" attitude that you talk about. God suffered a great deal in the Garden of Gethsemene and on Friday and took the punishment of everyone. He wants all people to be saved. He loves them enough to do everything to reconcile God and Man. Man can resist. God won't force people into Heaven. If people resist, they send themselves into eternal torment.

Some don't see how a loving God can send people into eternal torment. I don't understand it. The Bible says it; that settles it. God is greater than my understanding.

I think all people get a chance to decide if they want to believe in God or Satan

Well, if that's what he really wants! Personally I'd rather inherit glorious eternal life through my Lord and Messiah Yeshua Christ of Nazareth.

Isaiah 55:1-6
(1) Ho, every one that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that has no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
(2) Why then do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfies not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
(3) Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
(4) Behold, I have given Him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
(5) Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.
(6) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

When God destroys those in the lake of fire the same thing happens, they just blink out of existence.

even if that were the case, if the "good" news, the gospel is true, there's something far better to be achieved. and it is true. and all you gotta do is repent and believe in the Son of God.

So whats with all the torture in between these two points when in fact these people never believed in Satan or God, so really there wish is to go to the lake of fire, non-existence. Why not just put them in the lake straight away?

so they can fill up the measure of their wickedness, so that when they go to the lake of fire, they will have plenty of sins to account for that they actually committed and they can't say God isn't fair in punishing them. God has every right to punish all of mankind, for we all have gone a whoring after other gods and have committed abominations against the Holy One of Israel. But to prove his mercy, he sent his son, and that son died and rose again to life. but noooo, who ever listens to Jesus?

it is supplying them with what they wanted, is the torture part just a way of saying "nah nah see your wrong and i'm right :p and now your gonna pay"

i spose. its not like God doesn't have every right to be P.O.'d - he's always been alive but people say he's dead and non-existent. so those people who he gave this life to he will take that life away from them and make them as non-existent as they thought he was, or worse. God is very powerful, but they think he's impotent, unable to act. they're just believing a lie. God's gonna be around long after athiests die. and we who believe are gonna be with him, and we shall eat of the fat of the land.

and you can too! believe the gospel. u dont have to die!!!!!!!!!!!!! really!

well, i've said all i can for now. peace be with you. may Christ free you from your chains and blindness.

Personally I can't take it from scripture that we blink out of existence in hell.

I do however take it from scripture that a God-hater gets what he wants. For it is those who reject God (in truth) who are thrown into the fire.

There are many who would rather not be with God in truth I believe.. they choose and they get what they want.

Yet there are also others who say they reject God, but then say they reject God because he is unjust, or not Good. God IS Good. God IS Just. I'd reject the God a lot of Christians preach too. Especially the ones who say "If you don't go to my church you'll go to hell" or "If you do not believe and understand the gospel as I say it, you go to hell"(which from these people is an intellectual process, not one of the heart that children and creatures can understand).

"Hinder not these little children, for such is the kingdom of God"

Parables such as the good Samaritin, the sheeps and the goats etc, should tell us that God judges our hearts. Romans 2 as well should tell us that God is not partial (all "Christians" go to heaven, everyone else goes to hell). After all, for what a Christian truely is, it is not up to mankind to decide who is in and who is out. The god of people who judge others such is no god at all. They shut up the kingdom of God in men's faces IMO.

Anyways, I do know that God is Just.

If someone goes to hell, it is perfect, fair and good. If someone goes to heaven, likewise. Even so I say, If God wanted me in hell, I'd be glad to go there because I love Justice. Yet, even though I deserve hell myself alone, God has saved me, and I do love His Grace. Even so, as the Lord has spoken, in his unending mercy "MY JUSTICE SHALL NOT SUFFER"

We may not understand the Justice of God, but we can know that God is good. Everyone gets what they deserve, perfectly.

IMHO,
Cheers.

I agree that I got it incorrect in regards to them "blinking out of existence" as I always remember our preacher saying as such, suppose it was his way of making a child not think about the horrors of such things. So will these beings/people who are being tortured eternally be kept an eye on to make sure that they are getting tortured, would you slowly forget that some of your loved ones may be in that pit burning in eternal torture?

MANY...WHOSE END IS DESTRUCTION-Phili 3:18,19

FEW ARE CHOSEN-Mt 22:14

I find this sad, as its almost predestined that people who are born today are likely to be tortured forever, and even if we preach the gospel it's determined already that most will be tortured forever and ever and ever and ever......infinity.

To compare Hitler to a Christian Doctor who lost his family in a fire and also his faith and therefore should be tormented in hell along side the likes of satan and his minions seems extreme but likely??!

We so often don't think that sin is that bad. We call it a weakness, little white lies, relaxation, alternate lifestyle, a feast day [my Dad's phrase when he wants to overindulge]. But to God, sin is rebellion. Even a wrong thought, a self-centered thought. To a pure and holy God, that taints the whole being. And we are born sinful (that is to say, not just with an inclination to sin but a lustful whole-hearted desire to sin big-time). We deserve hell.

btw, Hitler was bad. But so was Stalin, those Cambodians that killed millions of their own, the Americans that murdered so many Indians. 43 million unborn children have been murdered in the US alone. 6 million Jews were horribly murdered in the concentration camps. No one knows how many tens of millions Stalin killed. That is horrible. But so is the person who attends church every Sunday and never truly believes that Jesus died for his sins because of his callousness.

We all deserve nothing but eternal punishment but Christ took our punishment for us so we wouldn't have to go there. If Hitler or Stalin would have repented, they would have gone up to heaven, too.

They "Chose" it. God's plan will not change just because men don't believe it, or just because they don't like it. It is god's way or the highway.......the WIDE highway for those that don't believe.....won't they be surprised?

If you know you are condemned to death and therefore die with Christ. Then you should also know you are forgiven by God and raised with Christ.

(something like that).

I have this customer who once told me she was a good enough person to go to heaven. I asked: have you not done anything wrong? She answered:
once when I was a little girl, I was passing a note and the teacher came so I dropped it. The note landed beside another girl and the teacher found it, blaming it on her. I didn't say a word and neither did anyone else. The other girl who got blamed had done nothing wrong and the teacher didn't believe her, so she cried and got in trouble. I always felt bad about it, but that was long ago.
I answerd: So say you go to heaven, which is a beautiful place without any tears. What if, in heaven, you do likewise again and make a little girl cry. You'd have destroyed heaven if God let you in, you'd be making the little girls cry!!!! What kind of God would let you into heaven if that is what you're going to do?

"The unrighteous shall not enter the assembly of the Lord"

I'm not wise teacher, I believe the customer of mine got the point.

How do these verses fit in with your understanding of eternal punishment, heaven and the resurrection?

Consider and hear me, O LORD my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death; Psalm 13:3

As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
psalm 17:15

All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, And shall be no more forever. Ezekiel 28:19

Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die. Ezekiel 18:4

“Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up"...Then His disciples said, “Lord, if he sleeps he will get well.” However, Jesus spoke of his death...Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last dayJohn 11:11-13, 24

So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, They will not awake Nor be roused from their sleep...All the days of my hard service I will wait, till my change comes. You shall call, and I will answer You. Job 14:12-15

For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, And my eyes shall behold, and not another. Job 19:25-27

For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share in anything done under the sun...Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going. Eccl. 9:5, 6, 10.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matt. 10:28

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 6:23

For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Matt. 16:27

But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection...Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations...And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Rev. 20:5-10

For the wicked are reserved for the day of doom; They shall be brought out on the day of wrath. Job 21:30

My Church teaches the Following..........

DEATH - BELIEVER & UNBELIEVER

im_dbu.jpg

When the final curtain falls on human history, and time is ended, the eternal state will commence, unblemished, everlasting, and not even a ripple in the course of events there will remind us of this terrible war between good and evil.

But I fancy that once every so often (we can't state a period of time!), perhaps the equivalent of 1,000 years, certain of us who lost loved ones and dear friends to the darkness of eternal damnation will gather in somber remembrance. Of course, we will not be capable of feeling pain or remorse, for our eternal bodies, or more specific, our souls, will have been "overhauled" by God, and those injurious emotions will be unattainable.

But I can imagine that whatever brief statement is uttered at that time will express the very thought that I am thinking at this moment...what a needless tragedy it was that so many souls rejected the love of God, brushed aside His gracious gift of redemption, and ended up in the Lake of Fire forever.

I have reflected upon this predicament many times, and given thanks that I will not have to be present at the final judgement, The Great White Throne of Rev 20, to hear and see the heart rending torment of those wretched creatures, both man and angel, as they stand before Jesus Christ to hear their sentence.

The greatest of ironies is found here; That the souls in heaven and the souls in hell will be exactly the same, in terms of their worthiness. No human being is capable of attaining divine Righteousness, which is the one principle imputation, along with Eternal Life, that we are given at salvation. The scriptures speak many times of this transaction, and for good reason, for all who dwell with God must have these attributes.

The one distinction between the saved and unsaved, as far as their own will is involved, will be that greatest of all decisions that we must make in this life. Every man will make it, and the choice they make will determine their everlasting destiny...Paradise or Hell.

What a terrible waste! So many men, numbered in the trillions, will casually throw away the free gift of redemption. And this catastrophe will be all the worse in light of the fact that no demands are placed upon our salvation. We are not required to do good deeds, or follow any preordained manner of life...many of those in heaven will be people who were saved, perhaps in childhood, and completely forgot they had accepted Christ as Savior! Others will have lived a life of corruption, even crime and violence. Yet, they will be in heaven because they made one right choice!

As humans we find it difficult to fit this grace attitude into our lives, for we learn all our life that nothing we ever acquire is free. Everything has a price, sometimes it's hidden, but it's always there. This principle applies to material and intangible alike. BUT! The greatest treasure of all is absolutely FREE!!!.

In fact, even if we wanted to buy salvation it is not for sale at any price. This is precisely the issue at the last judgement! Millions of the unsaved will have lived their lives trying to "buy" salvation with their good deeds and sacrifices...none of which results in divine Righteousness. Such is their indictment and sentence, as the judgement passage makes clear, for they are found in "The Book of Works" and not in "The Book of Life".

I can't say this too many times; No sin will be mentioned at the Last Judgement! This is so because the issue of sin was settled at the cross. Christ already bore the sins of all mankind and paid the price of punishment to the satisfaction of The Father, who acted as His Judge.

Hear this, legalistic Christians! God did all the work of salvation, made all the sacrifices, covered all the bases. He devised a plan, executed the plan, and revealed it to us. His is the glory. Our part is redemption is simple, even simpler than simple...all we must do is say YES!, and at that moment we are saved forever. Nothing can take it away from us.
