  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How exactly is that a keeper? If your whole basis for morality is "God says so", then you do not understand why things are moral.

If God came out tomorrow and announced that all black people must be burned at the stake, would you consider that a moral command, just because God said it?

Obedience is not morality, obedience is mindless slavery. Truly moral people are moral for the sake of being good. They don't need to be coerced by some magical slave-driver to act morally.

Obedience is not morality. That was your original sentence, you just added the comma just now. I am keeping the original I like it better.

theists have the same law as everyone else. the law is perfect converting the soul the Bible says. You suggest an imperfect law. So where is the athiest universal law, not talking about a philosophy class in college. but the real deal?

There isn't one, and evidence points to the fact that you don't have one either, even though you claim you do.

How exactly is the comma relevant? The point is the same, obedience is not morality.

article associates "agenda" to burn churches with athiesm.

Suspect in Texas Church Fires Reportedly Had Books on Atheism | Fox News

Nice job on the prejudicial slander and abject bigotry.

Because of course, if one guy who happens to own a book on Atheism (and Demons I may add) burns a church down, then all Atheists are people that burn down churches, or advocate it.

The article doesn't even state the guy is an Atheist, it says he owns an atheist book or two, which many religious people do as well. Given the fact he also owns books on Demons, that would indicate to me he has supernatural beliefs of some kind.

this is your typical athiest event huh? nice and loving.

http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/fort-bragg-to-host-anti-religion-event.html

this song about church burning wasn't at the event but ON THE EVENTS PROMOTIONAL WEBSITE!!!

yup yup, and so no I am narrow minded that I found two separate occasions of athiests involved or promoting church burning.

now what about the morals again?

oh yeah and the website that has the church burning video is here:

http://rockbeyondbelief.com/2012/02/05/music/

and remember this is the organizer for all the concerts for athiests at military bases.

Oh my, are you really going there? Since you are doing the equivalent of lobbing me a softball to hit over the fence.... I will be civil and allow you a chance to think this one over and retract your statement.

Ok, so you have two examples of Atheists that advocate burning Churches... (Well, actually one Atheist, and a guy that owned a book about Atheism that we don't know is an Atheist or not). Since you are tying that to morals, are you trying to make the case that all Atheists (or a majority of Atheists) share the morals those two guys do?

Yes, or no?

There is no theist universal law, so why the double-standard?

Did you ever need objectable proof to believe in air?? Just as the unseen air is essential to life,so is the unseen "SPIRIT" of GOD. Amazingly all the "3" essential natural resources of life. Air,water, and fire...are all used as symbols in the Bible to represent the SPIRIT of GOD.

We have objective proof for air. We can demonstrate it's existence by trees and flags blowing in the wind, the resistance we feel when waving our arms around, and our lungs expanding when we breathe in.

Likewise, we are aware of the three states of matter.... we can take air, cool it down and observe it's components (i.e. Oxygen/Nitrogen) in a visible state, either liquid or solid.

There's more examples I can give, but I'm sure you get the point.... there is plenty of observable, empirical evidence for Air. We have good reason to assume it exists

Oh you mean the air...yeah Dave did get me right good on that one.

No, I am saying that using God as an explanation is one of the principles of theism. Your video was defending this notion.

Along with, as Dave Ellis said, jumping around incoherently trying to disprove evolution, science and atheism all at once and attacking particle physics for something it doesn’t even come close to claiming.
