well, for me, since I don't have faith in a 'church'...I guess me finding out I am wrong in either place isn't going to affect my faith...but I would have to plead guilty and ask for forgiveness. That is why I believe trusting in Jesus and not an institution/church/denomination is a better idea.
Awesome answer!
Perhaps that's the problem with American churches. They put their faith in their church, it's doctrines, it's activites and teachings and expect God to do their will.
What has Rome done since the schism?
Besides breaking a Canon of the Third Ecumenical Council which stated that the Creed could not be changed, altered, or added to..without a Council to do it, they also withdrew from what the First Ecumenical Council said in regards to the Paschalion (date of Easter). Not to mention the never taught by the early Church-immaculate conception of Mary..
All this was done by a "supreme infalliable" leader. It is sad that Catholics don't realize, that this is what seperates East and West. If Rome can give up it's pride, and realize they are wrong, and are not practicing what the ancient Church practiced as far the Seat of Peter is concerned...then maybe one day, we will re-unite..
American Church? Neither Rome or the East are American Churches....
And yes we put faith in our Church, which is the Body of Christ. Sad that people say they don't belong to the Church...
It's equally sad that people don't read other people's posts right and instead, jump to conclusions (which is the norm in CF)
I said that the problem with most american churches is that they put their faith in what THEY are doing in their church.
Now, THE Church are those who put their faith in Jesus and allow Him to be The Head of The Church, since it is only because of Him that any of us are even able to belong in the Church.
thank you.
No, that is not what you said..this is what you said..
They put their faith in their church, it's doctrines, it's activites and teachings and expect God to do their will.
Thank you...
Either way Repentant, it's true that there are christians who put their faith in themselves first. Then God comes second.
Then say that. Don't say something dirogitory about people who put faith in the Church, which is the Body of Christ..
I wasn't derogetory. You just read my post wrong.
I don't put my trust in the church either.. My trust and faith is in Christ. This puts me in the Body of Christ.. I trust God.. Man can and will dissapoint me. God never does..I can't spell.
And I did not read your post wrong. You said it was a problem that people put faith in their Church, it's Doctrines and it's teachings. So according to you, it's a problem to put faith in the Body of Christ, which He Himself established here on earth as the visible Church. This is what you said, you can't take it back now. You could admit you are wrong, but not take it back like you never said it.
I don't put my trust in the church either.. My trust and faith is in Christ. This puts me in the Body of Christ.. I trust God.. Man can and will dissapoint me. God never does..
repentant[I said:for the sake of his body, which is the church.[/I].
Amen and all true believers in Christ are part of it..pax..Kim
Since Christ gave His life to purify the Church, you are saying that Christ's sacrifice is somehow impotent.I don't put my trust in the church either.. My trust and faith is in Christ. This puts me in the Body of Christ.. I trust God.. Man can and will dissapoint me. God never does..
watch yo do not back yourself into a corner as you deny the papacy of today because you as a Orthodox as do many protestants scholars know that peter was the foundational rock Christ's Church was built on.Ok, that makes no sense whatsoever..
"I am the supreme infalliable leader, and all must listen to me"...is not dictatorship?
Actually Paul has more pull in Scripture than any of the 12 combined, but's that neither here nor there..also I seem to remember at the Council in Jerusalem in Acts, it was James who was "in charge", and was the one who spoke and stated what must be done.....but I do remember Peter speaking, and being rebuked by Paul...
13And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
14Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
15And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
16After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
17That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
18Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
19Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
20But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
James was the leader here, as he was the Bishop of Jerusalem. Peter was not the infalliable supreme leader of the Church...
But yet some don't put there faith in the Church...
watch yo do not back yourself into a corner as you deny the papacy of today because you as a Orthodox as do many protestants scholars know that peter was the foundational rock Christ's Church was built on.
The papacy and Peter as the foundational Christ built his Church on should be to you and Prots, two seperate matters.
We are never told to put our faith in the church..But yet some don't put there faith in the Church...
You mean put our faith in the body,But yet some don't put there faith in the Church...
