So how has work gone -- think you will ultimately be glad for the change?
On a personal ad website I met a girl -- I contacted her after reading her newly posted ad, which stressed the importance she places on her faith. She is 26 y/o, truly stunning (half Caucasian, half Hispanic), who attends and is a member of one of the largest and most solid non-denominational churches in Chicago. She used to lead a female bible study group, serve as a translator for the church, and she is currently involved in various ways with the church. She doesn't drink or smoke, and her hobbies revolve around spending time with her family. She worked, she admits slightly embarrassed, running office operations of a pest control agency while going through 7 years of college to get a Bachelor's degree in elementary school education. She's never had a boyfriend before because she doesn't casually date and she's never encountered someone she would consider marrying. From her presence all over the web, religious and networking sites, it is obvious she is everything that she says she is. She is more than a little into me... So here's the deal, mina.... She came to the U.S. with her parents from Mexico over 11 years ago on a visa. The visa has long since expired. Her aunt applied for residency for her entire family in like 2000, but her aunt has since died and they haven't heard back from the government. After some ambiguity on her part, I finally asked her directly what this meant, to which she finally replied that her status was that of an undocumented immigrant (illegal alien...). Not being a citizen or even lawful resident, she is unable to get licensed by the state so she can use her degree and teach elementary school -- she currently works as a receptionist at a dentist office. Being a lawyer (supposedly called to honoring the law....) and otherwise being conservative on the immigration issue and with a possible future in politics, I think my only option is to tell her there can be nothing between us until she at least becomes a lawful resident of the U.S. I consider her one of the most amazing and deserving women I've ever encountered. So how do you suggest I reject her? Should I totally end all relations with her?
