  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You will need:

1. Holy Water
2. Star of David
3. Pot

The Star of David should protect you. Pour the holy water on to confuse him again. And as for the rest of it...whatever.

HA! That was awesome. You know, I think we got off to a bad start when I first came here. You're really quite clever.

By getting him a beer.

But by gay law, I can only touch sweet, fruity drinks! Sigh. Having a straight friend is hard.

Oh! And I have a question for the straight menz;

When you're out on the town and you see those girls, you know the ones: high heels, teeny dresses, long nails, overdone hair/makeup, etc, what do you really think? And what do you think of straight irls who kiss other girls just for the attention?
Everything mentioned here depends on several factors. One being the setting. A night out on the town is completely fine for a teeny outfight. But if it's at say a grocery store, or at work, or picking up a child from school, etc., then it just comes across as sad attention seeking.

Another factor is age. After a certain age, teeny outfits come across as imature. So does the "kissing girls for attention" thing. At the right age, in the right setting, that can come across as cute.

Ironic how us men, conditioned by society to be homophobic, enjoy seeing women do those things.

And, have you ever been hit on by a gay man? If so, how did you feel? and how did you diffuse the situation?
I've been hit on by a gay man. It didn't bother me, because at the time, I was on a date with with my wife, who liked going to certain bars that happened to be gay. Apparently, going to gay bars/drag shows was something she did with her family...her mom, dad, sisters, friends...she had fun going there.

So when I was hit on (my wife wasn't next to me right then), I actually took it as a compliment. This dude who was smiling at me bought me a drink. I think my reaction was a little funny though. I don't think I reacted like someone who was gay would to such a gesture, and he didn't push the issue any further.

And, seriously, why do guys have a thing for mullets and rats-tails now?
I don't know anyone north of Texas who has a thing for those.

Me too. What exactly do those blessings do, anyway? (lol, ima n00b)
You're supposed to be able to "buy" different things for your profile with them. Or, you can by a CF virtual pet, and buy food and other things for it. There was a time when you could also "dress" a male or female avatar, and purchase different clothes and even weapons for them.

This was a very popular feature on CF, but I don't know if you can still buy anything with blessings anymore. I think that part of CF was discontinued, but they left the blessings for some reason.

It's kind of a joke I've heard, actually. After some brah/frat-type goes on and on about how homosexuality is wrong, append it with "...except lesbians because that's hot." I knew a guy like that in high school. I really don't know how he worked it out in his head to claim strong moral fiber if he was willing to compromise it all just for the prospect of two girls kissing. It's rather silly. When I hear a person say something like that, I usually think their stance is more "EW GAYS" than anything else.

So when I was hit on (my wife wasn't next to me right then), I actually took it as a compliment. This dude who was smiling at me bought me a drink. I think my reaction was a little funny though. We like to keep it classy.

My straight friends hit on me for sport because they're jerks. But I think that you'd take being hit on by another guy as a compliment instead of an attack is great! It should be taken as a compliment, just as being hit on in general should be. What did your wife think?

With so many of us all receiving 2 million blessings each, I have wondered who would have so many to pass out, since normally they come out of the donor's own blessings account. I'm beginning to suspect that it is a Christmas present from the administrators and the site owner.
I got two million as well. So count me in.

As a straight man, what is your opinion of metrosexuals, and do you think they look better than you do? ;)
I think metros do look better than me. I think they look cool, so long as it's not overboard...like eyeliner, lipstick and all that. Basically, as long as they look "pretty" like Leonardo Decaprio in Romeo and Juliette, and not "gay", like Adam Lambert.

I think the term metrosexual has been too loosely defined as of late. Decaprio is a metrosexual. Lambert is glamcore.
A general rule of thumb:
If it looks expensive, elegant and tasteful, it's probably metro.
If it features glamrock eye-liner, some level of ridiculousness and a sense of edginess, it's probably glamcore.

Like... Express is metro. H&M is more glamcore (and/or hipster).

well, I would assume that Lambert looks "gay" versus the way a metrosexual looks because he IS gay. Plus, we generally see the Adam that he puts on for public appearances and not necessarily the Adam he is when he's not in front of the camera.

I think of metrosexuals as the guys that are hip to male fashion and can pull off a man-purse. I have a cousin who is like that. He is trendy and hip and is always wearing the "in" style, and the people around him (like his coworkers) assume he's gay but he's straight as an arrow.

I agree. Metrosexual is a play of heterosexual, so I don't know eyeliner and other such looks are still considered metro. I've never heard of glamcore, so thanx for educating me there. Glad I have a new term to distinguish between Decaprio and Lambert.

No. If I saw Lambert but didn't know who he was, his look would still be gay to me.

Hmm....I think a "man-purse" is pretty gay.

My wife wants to buy me an earring for Christmas. Not a joke--she's really serious about it. What the heck is that about?

Is she stuck in the 80s perhaps? Does she want you to have a mullet, too? And some acid washed jeans?

Sorry, jayem, your wife apparently thinks you're either a sailor, a hippie, or a homosexual. You have my prayers. :crosseo:

ETA: Oh, or maybe a gypsy. Are you a gypsy?

None of the above. I'm about as button-downed and conventional as a 50s TV show. I kinda think that's her reason. I love her dearly, but she's always had a definite non-conformist streak. I'm sure she'd like me to be a little less ordinary.

On the girls I very often think 'If she had a clue ablotu makeup and didn't ahve the claws she could be very sexy', unless I'm thniking the fool, she does not have the body to pull that look off.

Yes I have been hit on by a gay man. Rather flattering as he was cute. It was at the Faultline where I was attending an event being put on by Avatar (a gay mens leather orginazition). No problem at all, I told him I was straight and he stayed a while and talke with me and others in the informal group I was in at the time and then cruised on. Actually much more polite than many het men who are looking. But then I'm not homophobic and I do know a fair number of Avatar members. At an event like that I expect to be greeted with a hug and a kiss by several individuals and honestly would feel hurt in I was not so greeted.
