Hey all!

I own this fluffy piece of crap.
RCA-ANT1650-Flat-Digital-Amplified-Indoor-TV-Antenna.jpg

RCA ANT1650 for Online Sale | Hdtv antenna review

It enjoys sucking here inside my apartment about 5 blocks north of the Capitol in Lansing, Michigan.

stations.png

I can get CBS, MNT (which is PAX TV), TCT (Praise God!), PBS (Blowfest!), FOX, ABC (Wipeout, is this seriously the only good show on this station anymore?), and ION Television (All this shows is Criminal Minds and Without a Trace in HD, go dead peeps!).

Overall, I get like 16 channels, most of those stations have extra substations or whatever you call them, all in HD TV and all for free.

I have 3 different spots in my living room depending on what channel I would like to watch.

Here is where I'm goosed.

I can't get NBC.

Upcoming football please.

My antenna is about 4 feet off of the ground inside my apartment and I have to move it, like I said before, to 3 different places.

Could someone give me advice or a trick or two on how to also pick up NBC?

I've never even so much as picked up a TV smear of this channel.

This seems kinda weird considering I'm right here in the downtown city and it should be the most popular station.

Cheers!

If we could break down entire human corpses into a soylent green type foodstuff, would it supply all the essential nutrients we need?

If so, could a human society survive entirely off of processing and eating their dead?

Since humans cannot create their own vitamins and lose some of that which they eat, such a system would require several corpses to feed one human. Similarly, conservation of energy would require several corpses to feed one human.

Also, since any diseases had will be human diseases, there is a good chance of getting diseased. In particular, diseases caused prions, which seem to be malformed proteins which cause the misfolding of other proteins and aren't destroyed by standard cooking. We had some issues with that when we were feeding cow brains to other cows.

When humans learn to include insects and other like life forms in their diet we will be better nourished. I love flying termites alive, raw or fried in their own oil, and also snails.:D

I'm sure you only eat organically grown termites, right?

Nah, it's still a leading candidate for beyond standard model physics. It is only the simplest possible model that runs afoul of this study, after all.

I don't see how that is a good sign for supersymmetry... but I'll take your word for it that it's still the leading candidate.

eudaimonia,

Well, I didn't say it was a good sign. What I meant was that there are a *lot* of models of supersymmetry. You can think of supersymmetry as more a class of theories than a single theory. The one that this experiment seems to indicate may not work is the minimal model.

At any rate, we can expect a huge amount of additional information to come out of the LHC over the next couple of years.

Like what it's like to have your planet sucked up by a black hole? (Kidding)
Haha, well, let's imagine, if you will, a small black hole entering our solar system and colliding with the Earth (this is so unbelievably improbable that there's effectively zero chance of it ever happening....but still fun to think about).

If that were to happen, well, the Earth would end up doing something that looks rather like this:
NASA | Animation: NASA's Swift Satellite Spots Black Hole Devouring A Star - YouTube

It would be torn apart by tidal forces, and then the matter that makes up the Earth would become an accretion disk around the black hole, with an appreciable fraction of the matter falling into the black hole being shoved into relativistic jets out the black hole's poles.

Ok this has been touched on earlier, but if a black hole is in fact a "singularity," why would any matter at all ever need to be spewed back out? (And even if my intuition that the concept of singularity is false but is still 3D were correct, there is still the same problem)
