As a Christian, would you date an atheist?

Unlike most of the long philosophical threads, this one's a simple question. As a Christian, would you date an atheist? Or as an atheist would you date a Christian? Why or why not?

I have known some very attractive people who do not share my faith. If projected out a relationship, I would see nothing but trouble.

I'm not here to tell you how to live your life, but I've (personally) only seen one outcome in this situation. It doesn't end well for the Christian...

I'm not saying it's not possible! But it's WAY easier to fall away from the Faith, than to bring someone into it.

No.

First, because the Bible says not to. Why would I want to date somebody who has contempt for that which is most precious to me? And where would the dating lead? We couldn't have a physical relationship because we aren't married and we can't be married because that would never work.

Second, after dealing with the atheists here and on CARM, it's about all I can do to be in the same room with an atheist, let alone try to have a relationship with one.

Third, because my wife would probably object.

Many years ago, 37 to be precise, I went out with an atheist. Without going into it, I still suffer today for doing that.
I paid a high price, I certainly would not do it again

It's not about attractiveness though. If you happen to fall for someone who doesn't share the same faith as you do. And s/he has stuck by your side through your hard times in life, certainly you're an idiot to ignore such things. Also, 1 Corinthians 7:13

go into it! that's what the thread's all about. criticizing one's decision is simple when it's not your life on the line. i honestly am not a fan of those "respond givers" who are obviously HAPPILY MARRIED WITH A CHRISTIAN S.O. Not everyone's life work the same way. The heartache, the hurdles, it's all different. So, please enlighten me and don't be one of those pretentious religious commenters on this post. Thanks!

so are you saying that you met someone when both of you were not saved, got married, and one of you got saved?

that's the only case where that verse is valid.

Yeah - that verse does not apply to your question. That is talking about someone who was married before coming to faith and then finds themselves married to an unbeliever.
