True. Most of my encounters with demons has not been after a period of fasting, but often unexpected, when I do not have an opportunity to fast, sometimes I do not have an opportunity even to pray. My last encounter came after the owner of our local Christian bookstore called me. He had closed his store because there was a young woman manifesting and who had thrown up on the floor. He asked me to come and cast the devil out of her. That was a tall order and I certainly did not have a chance to fast. I simply got in my car, prayed for grace, went into the store, and exercised my authority over demons in Jesus’ name. It really was a simple as that. No fasting or extended prayer session, no spinning heads or levitation, no foaming at the mouth, just a simple exercise of authority. Of course, not all of my encounters with demons has been this simple, one in particular took some time, but none of them that I recall required fasting. :)

I hear ya, good post, too much emphasis on fasting nowadays..:) You were ready, caught off guard...

I think you wil agree, that fasting almost sounds like a kill the flesh teaching, asceticism.

You send a different message: "God is with me up to a point"

well...what happens if you break the fast, the Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Fasting puts the victory/defeat on you, the cross puts the victory on Christ.

No flesh can glory in the cross, but the big time 21 day faster gets the credit.;):)

yes. That is why we dont see what we should see happening

what i meant was if you believe that God is not with you as much because you broke your fast, then the fasting became a work that determined how close you believed God was (while in reality God is inside you closer than ever). So then the devil said hey, this guy has his shield down, let me fire some arrows at him since He doesn't believe God is with him as much anymore. Then fasting became a stumbling block.

As I said fasting is all about sending a message to the devil. The message is: "Don't mess with me, God is on my side"

Fasting is about seeking the heart of God
The message is please bring me closer to you tell me how enable me to do what I need to so I can get there, convict me teach me let me hear your voice and heart because when you God say something it is done, when you God change me I am changed. Father I desperately need you, the people on my heart need you. Please let me hear you and see your hand work in my life in their lives. Father have mercy forgive and please God work in this situation in power because without you there is nothing going to change

It is about finding a way to humble ourselves to Gods purposes so He can be more in our lives.

For me its not about the devil, I get where youre coming from but its more about connecting with God so He can work without me in the way.

I have a lot to learn about fasting though

Fasting is not about seeking credit. It is about seeking results.

Fasting is not about seeking credit. It is about seeking results.

But it is still willpower based, sooner or later it will fail. Then I guess people don't need the cross, people can just fast. Why go to the lesser?

True If you base fasting on will power you will fail. If you base it on faith you will succeed. Actually I see it as a test of our resolve of the Cross not as an alternative to it.

I look to the cross since I am medically unable to fast. I cannot fast from food as I am hypoglycemic.

This is true, there are times when there was a definite drawing of God that I should fast, if it had been of my own willpower it wouldnt have happened. I still do not know the outcome of that but I was definitely drawn to do it and because God had done that it was right to fast. I almost think fasting without God drawing you to it is pointless but maybe not if you do it because you know you need Him, difficult to say.

We definitely need Jesus accomplishing what He did for us on the Cross, theres no comparison between fasting and the Cross.

Remember that we are talking about fasting in order to help others. My suggestion to you is that you seek all the spiritual help you can for you to be in good health and then consider ministry to others.

That would be a great plan I guess, but God has already placed me in a ministry, that ministry is my wife and daughter.;)

True. I've tried fasting in my own strength and it didn't go well at all.

Plus, healing is a self-centered thing—what God can do for me.:)

Thats one perspective

I regularly pray for healing for my patients, no higher motivation than to see them well, and free of what ever the heck ails them...

Then seriously consider where you may be lacking in he fulfillment of that role.

where do you get off saying stuff like that! wow! that's some arrogant stuff you just said there as if you have it all together.

perhaps you should seriously consider where you may be lacking if you think its ok to come and out and say stuff like that to people. especially to someone like Boidae who has a lot to deal with and is obviously someone who wants to honor God and as such is doing his best for his wife and child.

This household has a lot of needs which are not going to be met with ear tickling words.
