Are we the product of poor design?

Our design allows us to hold our breath for much longer periods than swallowing takes. At one time I could hold my breath for nearly four minutes.

If we had the senses and abilities that animals possess we would be...animals. I rather like being human.

Probably because it's not an overly detrimental issue from a survivability perspective. Yet it's still an clear flaw in our design.

Perhaps the design was intended to govern how we eat. If so it's perfect. Anyway I fail to see the "great cost" involved.

The design of our teeth (and entire digestive system) reveals that we should chew our food thoroughly before swallowing. Problem solved. God's design allows for some misuse, usually in the youthful. Most of our problems stem from breaking obvious rules. Thoroughly chewing our food is arguably the most important thing we can do on a daily basis.

Then count yourself lucky you've never choked. Meanwhile, there are lots of parents whose children didn't grow up for that very reason.

Parents have to be ever watchful in this regard. Most choking deaths are small children and seniors. Parents should obtain a "dechoking" device.

What do you think of my tracheotomy idea at least until God, or evolution, corrects the design?

It's not poor design but deliberate design; after all how do we explain the Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas and Epsilons in our society?
