Some churches did have it in their canon, and some of the church fathers fought to keep it. Ultimately it comes down to do we trust Jude in this matter when he calls upon it's content and prophecy to formulate the primary basis of his message.

I would think not prophies inspired by God. They are limited to the word of God the Bible.

Its the opposite. The book of Enoch is quoting from the Bible. It was commentary with some religious fantasy thrown in. It was an ancient Jewish equivalent of Jurassic Park.

My views do change, as they have with regard to my positions from the time of this communication being active. It might yet be that sons of God and daughters of men were all human, as I am more inclined to think, still. But I can't dismiss the Book of Enoch since learning more about it. We have the portion that does precede the writings of the new testament, some of it at least is authentically from the time of Enoch, as there is the portion attributed to Enoch mentioned in Jude. There are other passages in the new testament that reference what is said in the book of Enoch, though not mentioning Enoch in those places. But the book was commonly accepted among believers and Jews generally, then. So at least some of the book of Enoch is authentic for believers.
