The sickness of death wasn't even enough to stop Jesus, the disciples, and many others who were full of the Holy Spirit from being able to heal a person of it. Therefore, no. There are no limits.

Name one person in the Gospels or Epistles who came and asked for healing and was NOT healed, was told no, or wait, or anything other.

How do you know?
A number of people have written/said that it was possibly something to do with his eyesight.

Simple - read the verse in context:

2 Cor 12: 7 And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
A messenger of Satan - angelos - spiritual messenger. The word is used 170 times in the NT, not one time translated sickness.

If you want a complete study on it:

Paul's Thorn

A messenger of Satan could easily be an illness.
Satan brings sickness and death. All Job's troubles and sufferings were sent by Satan. He sends sickness, death etc to us to try to get our eyes off God.
And in many cases it seems to work - at least for a while. People blame God for suffering. Because non Christians believe he is responsible, should at least stop it or could stop it and won't, they don't want to believe in him. I daresay that some Christians may have even lost their faith because they feel God should heal them and doesn't. Job done - 1-0 to Satan.

I don't blame the person, I blame the centuries of the church not believing God, and teaching that God doesn't honor his word. The church looks at God's word and tells us to also ask, "did God really say?".

For those of you who believe that God heals everyone of what they have asked to be healed of ... what do YOU say to persons who prayed for a specific healing and did not receive what they asked for?

Or is it that everyone you know who has prayed for a specific healing has received it?
All your friends and family and coworkers, etc., have always been healed as they have requested?

Really ... I do not see it as a lack of faith to accept what is reality.
Reality is: Not all persons that pray for a specific healing are healed as requested.

So ... what do you say to them?
How do you counsel them?

Think this takes us back to what the OP was initially asking.

p.s. And where do you live, that this is happening for all the people there?
I may want to move there! lol

A personal faith in God is dependent on God, and not the church.

I understand now why you express so much disappointment with churches, and the so many others you refer to in the Body of Christ. Believing in the faith of others to heal you is sure to disappoint.

Depending on man will often disappoint.
But depending on God never does ...

A messenger of Satan could easily be an illness.

Not in this case the Greek word is angelos (angel in English) - used 170 times in the NT - never once as a description of a disease.

Satan brings sickness and death. All Job's troubles and sufferings were sent by Satan. He sends sickness, death etc to us to try to get our eyes off God.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil (Acts 10:38), God does not use the works of the devil against His children. (concept is in Mark 3: If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand)

The truth of the Word of God is not based on individuals experiences. I cannot say that God doesn't want everyone saved because there are people dying and going to hell.

What I don't say is that God's word isn't true. That is no help to them.

Someone very close to me died of cancer. She believed to her last breath that God was going to heal her. That doesn't negate God's word. He wants to heal us, but the naysayers shout louder, and it plants doubt in our minds and too often our hearts.

Please cite chapter and verse anyplace in the New Testament - Gospels through Revelation - where someone asked to be healed and was not healed.

The very moment you do that - case closed.

The only limits in place are those the individual places on what he/she chooses to believe.

It's not about looking to the church for healing. It's about how we are supposed to encourage one another, but we very actively discourage one another. I don't know anyone who is so faithful on their own that they can stand without encouragement for their whole entire life. If someone believes for a healing we tell them it may not be God's will, "did God really say?". Actually yes He did really say, and it is grave sin to deny it, but the church has elevated unbelief to a virtue, and is teaching others to do the same. Unbelief is sin! When the church teaches unbelief, and it does, the church is aligning with Satan. We should be more than a little concerned about that.

I'm going to just come out and say this. People like Joni Erickson Tada, John MacArthur, and R.C. Sproul are wolves, attacking the church, not helping it. They deny God's love and compassion, and demand that others reject God's care along with them. They all make, (in Sproul's case, made), great amounts of money denying the truth of the Bible.
