Yes. They do. That's one of the reasons organisms die. But as we know, they reproduce to get round this - this is what drives evolution.

I fight logical entropy throughout my life. I do it by gaining order at the expense of my environment by eating and breathing.

If you took the earth/sun system as a whole, you will find that the overall entropy has increased. Life temporarily succeeds in maintaining a localised increase in order, but at the expense of increased entropy in the earth/sun system as a whole, just like a bucket of water warming in the sun in my back yard will.

We are comparing apples and oranges here. I am not talking about the fact that I can not picture evolution, or I can not see every little detail. I am saying, given the existence of a single cell, evolution would not yeild life as we have it today.

That still leaves the huge problem of the first cell.
