LOL.... I can understand why every Critic here will intentionally misread what was written, but it's apparent that you never read the account in the first place and just make it up as you go along.....and they are designed so not even a whale could sink them,...
I keep trying to figure out how to respond to this thread and all I do is sit here and blink at the screen.
It's so absurd. I don't see why this is even an issue since Noah built the arc and then there's the story about Jonah being swallowed by a whale and Christ spoke in metaphors.
I'm with Ran77 on this one.

I know I did some of it...but I lose track. I don't have time to sit on the boards and read the volumes of stuff you guys seem to have time for.did you ever comment on the do the lds worship Jesus thread, i don't think i saw you comment...
the obvious thing you are missing is, the bom claims to be the most correct book , yet it describes submarines belonging to a race prior to even proper boat building, air tight submarines, if the bom is to be taken seriously should it not be investigated in an attempt to validate its claims ...
AMEN!!!Agreed.
Not to mention talking snakes, talking donkeys, humans
parting entire oceans so they can walk across them, staffs
turning into snakes, water coming out of rocks, water being
turned into wine (sweet!), feeding 5,000 people on only
five loaves and two fish, walking on water (without having to
part it first).... and on and on.
Apparently, God is not allowed to be awesome in other belief-
systems.

It does not claim to have submarines in it. No one can take what you say seriously because you put the most ridiculous spin on everything you have to say. You're just trolling. It would be great to have a REAL discourse on subjects with you but you are bent on presenting the most irrational takes on the subject of the LDS faith.
By now I'm sure anyone reading my post can tell I try to listen and be open minded but when someone such as yourself is just being obtuse it's very hard to want to talk to you.
AMEN!!!OH Hallelujah! Finally some rational thought!
I don't believe you have a concept of the basic technical applications here. The barges do not travel under water by design. But when the violent waves cause submersion, they can withstand and protect. They are 100% dependent on wind and water current for travel. When the upper hatch is open, the bottom hatch must be closed, else they sink. And vice versa, close the top to open the bottom hatch and perhaps do some fishing.air tight vessels that travel below the water, is that not a submarine, they talk about not being able to get air so they need holes in them....

I'm sure they had to routinely do some bailing during calm weather. This was not written as a technical manual of the vessels, and you seem to insist in specifications of your own.

Knowing what I do now of the LDS faith --- i would never have voted for Romney. I would have written in the Garasene Demoniac.
how did the wind even effect these barges, no sails, the shape, hardly surprising it took a year though a year in a boat full of people, stock, food, water, wordly possessions, with no toilet facilities for man nor beast, that turned upside down in the ocean must have seemed like a life time....
I imagine they used chamber pots - lots of chamber pots. Maybe that was the purpose of the hole in the bottom of the barge.
No it's not a submarine and I really doubt it was completely air tight. It was an enclosed boat that was tight enough to survive a temporary plunge beneath the stormy seas. At least that's how I've imagined it.air tight vessels that travel below the water, is that not a submarine, they talk about not being able to get air so they need holes in them....
