I guess it boils down to whether or not we believe people gettin tattoos are doing wrong, then.
Yes. I do believe they are doing wrong. In the same way that someone smoking is wrong - that using profanity is wrong - that abusing your heath is wrong. Is it something which will bar you from heaven? nah. But it's still wrong. Why? Because God said so. :)
Personally, I know many Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born again Christians who have tattoos, and who get tattoos.
I know "Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born again Christians" who smoke. I know "Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born again Christians" who get drunk. I know "Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born again Christians" who abuse their bodies and their health. I know "Bible-believing, Spirit-filled, born again Christians" who are divorced. Does that make it right?
I don't think it is your job (or mine) to judge whether or not they are in a state of sin because of it.
I'm not judging ANYTHING Only pointing out that God said it was wrong. :)
If it is wrong for you because you feel the Spirit's conviction about it, then don't get them.
The Spirit always agrees with the Word. :)
But don't judge another because of YOUR interpretation of Scripture, as their being wrong, in sin, or in error because it doesn't line up with YOUR theology.
AGAIN - not judging. Just pointing out truth.

Freedom FROM or freedom TO?

I'd say both.

Remember what Paul said, "All things are permissible, not all things are beneficial." That doesn't mean the 'not beneficial' things are sin.

As to your smoking, drinking, cussing post a few posts back, for all the cliche' verses you would give me, I could argue by the Word just as effectively to counterpoint your points. None of those things, in and of themselves, are necessarily 'sinful', nor would they lead you to hell.

No, and those are defined as being not permissible in many places, namely the 10 commandments.

But NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE does it say 'thou shalt not smoke'. No where. If you can find a verse that says, 'thou shalt not smoke', I'll eat my shoes.

God would be a bit of a kill-joy if he banned stuff that folk find pleasureable and are not hurting others, like tattoos and body piercing, revealing clothes etc. Reading these posts it would appear that just because some folk don't like them, they assume that God doesn't like them either!

Welp the decalogue are 10 of the 613 mitzvot which make up the Law. :) The same LAW which tells us that it is wrong to get a tattoo.

Yeah, that still doesn't answer my question.

Word for word, in writing, where does it say 'thou shalt not smoke' in the Bible.

Please don't sidestep the question again, it's a waste of my and your time.

OY VEY! MODESTY!

1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1Jo 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Revealing clothes -promotes lust of the flesh.
