FACT: Mankind cannot perfectly keep GOD'S Mosaic 10 COMMANDMENTS !!

He is a sinner in need of a Savior!

In the NT, Jesus confirmed and clarified all 10 except:
1. using God's name in vain
2. remember the Sabbath

Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.

Hi all,

Some people are going around teaching that God's 10 Commandments are ABOLISHED and no longer a standard for Christian living. Yet the NEW TESTAMENT alone does not teach this at all.

1 JOHN 2:1-4
[1], MY LITTLE CHILDREN, THESE THINGS, I WRITE UNTO YOU THE YOU SIN NOT. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
[2], And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
[3], And HEREBY WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW HIM, IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.
[4], HE THAT SAYS, I KNOW HIM AND DOES NOT KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, IS A LIAR AND THE TRUTH IS NOT IN HIM.

WHAT DID JESUS AND THE APOSTLES TEACH ABOUT GOD’S LAW
(the scriptures below are no where near exhaustive from the NT alone)

Jesus taught the 10 commandments…..

1. Jesus kept God’s Law (10 commandments) and said the Law and the prophets would not pass away (Matt 5:17-18)
2. Jesus taught others to follow the 10 commandments (Mark 10:17-21)
3. Jesus taught that Love is the fulfilling (doing) of God’s Law (10 commandments Matt 22:36-40)
4. If we break God’s Law by following man-made traditions we are not following God (Matt 15:3-9)
5. Jesus says if we commit sin we are a servant of sin and he has come to free us from sin (John 8:32-36)
6. Jesus taught if you love God you will keep God’s Law and abide in His Love (John 14:15; 15:10
7. If anyone is breaking any of God’s commandments and teaching others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven <least = lost> (Matt 5:19)
8. No one can obey God’s Law producing the fruit of obedience of ourselves and unless we abide in Jesus we can do nothing (John 15:4-10)

Paul affirms the Ten Commandments……

1. Paul teaches God's people keep the Sabbath Hebrews 4.
2. Paul tells gentiles that "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of GOD" 1 Cor 7:19
3. Paul tells gentiles "it is not the HEARERS of the Law that are just before God but the DOERS of the Law will be justified... on the day when according to my GOSPEL God will judge all mankind" Rom 2:13-16
4. Paul asks that gentiles consider the doctrine of LAW "Do we then make void the LAW of God by our faith? God forbid! In fact we establish the Law of God" Rom 3:31
5. Paul tells ALL Christians that it is only the lost who will "not subject themselves to the Law of God neither indeed CAN they" Rom 8:6-8
6 Paul reaches all Christians under the NEW Covenant that God's LAW as known in Jer 31:31-33 is "written on the heart and mind" Heb 8:7-11
7. Paul tells all Christians that the OT text is to be used for Doctrine 2Tim 3:16
AND He never claims that "if I did not write it -- it is not scripture for us today" -- as one or two have imagined for us.
8. Paul tells all Christians that the 5th commandment is the "FIRST commandment with a promise" Eph 6:1-2 and is binding on all Christians.
9. God's Law (10 commandments) are holy, just and good (Rom 7:12)
10. God's Law gives us a knowledge of what sin is (Rom 3:20; 7:7)
11. The penalty of breaking God's Law without Jesus is death (Rom 6:23)
12. If we break God's Law we dishonor God (Rom 2:23)
13. If we sin we are "under the Law" and guilty before God (Rom 3:19)
14. We are saved by faith but our faith establishes the Law in us (Rom 3:31)
15. If we are saved by grace we should not break God's Law (Rom 6:1-7)
16. We should not break God's Law if we are under grace (Rom 6:15)
17. We are to serve the Law of God through the mind because that is where sin starts (Rom 6:17; 7:25; 8:4; 12:2)
18. It is God's Law that brings us to Jesus (Gal 3:24)
19. God's salvation frees us from sin so we can be obedient to God's Law and live a life of holiness (Rom 6:22)
20. We will be judged by God's Law and only those that are obedient will be justified because of their faith (Rom 2:4-13)
21. God's Law can only be obeyed through love and a changed heart which comes by faith in God's Word (Rom 2:21-29; 13:9-10; Heb 8:9-10)
22. If we break God's Law and are in unrepentant sin we will be lost and will received God's judgements (Heb 10:26-27)

John affirms the 10 commandments……

1. John says it is only by keeping God’s 10 commandments that we know that we know God (1 John 2:3)
2. If someone says that they know God and do not keep God’s 10 commandments they are lying and not telling the truth (1 John 2:4)
3. We should purify ourselves as Jesus is pure (1 John 3:3)
4. Sin is the breaking of God’s 10 commandments (1 John 3:4)
5. Whoever is abiding in Christ does not commit sin (1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10)
6. If you are in unrepentant sin you have not seen Jesus or know him (1 John 3:6)
7. John warns us that only those that are obedience to God’s Law are his true followers (1 John 3:7)
8. If someone is committing unrepentant sin they are following the devil and not God (1 John 3:7)
9. If you are born of God and abiding in him you will not commit sin (1 John 3:9; 1 John 3:6; John 15:4-10
10. It is the keeping of God’s commandments that is the difference between those that are following God and those that are not following God (1 John 3:10; 1 John 5:3)
11. It is only by Love through faith that we can keep God’s commandments (1 John 5:3-4)
12. God’s true believers in the end days will keep all of God’s commandments through faith in Jesus (Rev 14:12; 22:14)

James also affirms the 10 commandments…….

1. James says God’s Law (10 commandments) are a Royal Law (James 2:8)
2. If we break one of God’s commandments we a guilty before God as sinners breaking all of God’s Law and gave some examples of breaking God’s Law (James 2:9-11)
3. James says God’s Law is a law of liberty and freedom (James 2:12)
4. The 10 commandments (God’s Law) are the standard in the judgment (James 2:12)
5. If our faith does not have the fruit of obedience to God’s Law it is dead and not true faith (James 2:16-26)

Peter affirms the 10 commandments……..

1. Sanctification is to obedience to God’s Law (1 Pet 1:2)
2. We can only be changed from sin to obedience to God’s Law by the power of God and it will be revealed in the last days (1 Pet 1:5)
3. We should give up our sins to be holy because Jesus is holy (1 Pet 1:13-16)
4. Jesus is your example who did no sin (1 Pet 2:21-22)
5. Cease from sin and do not live in the flesh (1 Pet 4:1-3)
6. Judgement will begin at the house of God and sinners (those breaking God’s 10 commandments) will not be saved.
7. God has given us his precious promises and as we believe them God will grant us his divine power to live a life of Godliness (obedience to God’s Law; 2 Pet 1:2-4)
8. The Un-Godly (disobedient to God’s Law) will be like Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Pet 2:6)
9. If any turn away from God’s Law and are in unrepentant sin breaking any of God’10 commandments they will be lost (2 Pet 2:20-22)
10 God is not willing that any should perish but that everyone should come to repentance and turn away from sin to follow God’s 10 commandments because those that do not will receive the judgements of God (2 Pet 3:5-14)

I see some people do not know what made up the OLD COVENANT laws and their purpose in both the OLD and NEW COVENANT and therefore think God's LAW has been abolished when it is only th SHADOW laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT and not God's ETERNAL LAW that gives us a KNOWLEDGE of what sin is when broken (Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4)

CAN'T HAVE A GOSPEL WITHOUT THE LAW

I believe the role of God's LAW is to give us a KNOLEDGE of good and evil; SIN and RIGHTOUESNESS. Nothing more and nothing less. They are our duty of LOVE to God and man. They show us that all we can do without Jesus is sin and that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour.

*If God's LAW is ABOLSHED then we no longer have any KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is.
*If we have no KNOWLEDGE of what sin is and that we are sinners we ahve no need of a Saviour
*If we have no need of a Saviour then we have no Salvation
*If we have no Salavtion then we are still in our sins and the scriputure is fulfilled...

ROMANS 2:12-13 [12], For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; [13], For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

My thoughts is that we are NOT SAVED by God's 10 Commandments. Their purpose is to give us a KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is and to lead us to the Cross so that we might be justified by faith (Galatains 3:23-24). The ROLE of God's LAW is to give us a KNOWLEDGE of good and evil; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS (Romans 3:20; Psalms 119:172; James 2:11 Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4). In the NEW COVENANT God's LAW is to be written on our hearts as we are born again to LOVE and LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW in those who BELIEVE God's WORD (Hebrews 8:10-12; Romans 13:8-10; Matthew 22:36-40; 1 John 3:3-10; John 3:3)

OPEN FOR FRIENDLY CHRISTIAN DISCUSSION.

What are your thoughts? ARE God's 10 Commandments ABOLISHED like some think and no longer the standard for Christian living?

May God bless you as we seek him through his WORD

The Law has Changed:

The believer in Jesus Christ is under the Commands in the New Testament (that come from Jesus and His followers). However, the Mosaic Law (as a whole package deal) no longer exists. It became obsolete with Christ's death (Hebrews 8:13). It is obvious the Old Law does not still exist because various commands in the New Testament have changed what the Old Law says. For example: Paul says that if you seek to be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. Jesus says to us that we are no longer to render an eye for an eye but we are to turn the other cheek. When Jesus died upon the cross, the temple veil was torn letting us know that the laws on the priesthood and the animal sacrifices were no longer valid anymore. Jesus is our Heavenly High Priest and He is our Passover Lamb. Paul says we are no longer to judge according to Sabbaths and holy days. Peter was told to eat unclean animals (Which is a violation of OT Law).

However, just because the OT Law is obsolete as a whole, does not mean God does not have other laws (or commands) for us today. In fact, one must understand that God has "Eternal Moral Laws" for man since after his "fall" in the Garden (When Adam and Eve received the knowledge of good and evil). After the "fall": It was always wrong to murder, commit adultery, sleep with one's parents, get drunk, hate your brother, covet, lie, commit idolatry, etc. These Moral laws existed before the written Law and they still exist today. The written Law of Moses merely repeated them or emphasized them. But in addition to these moral laws, there were laws (within the Old Law) that were exclusive to the nation of Israel. These are ceremonial laws (like the Saturday Sabbath, circumcision, the dietary laws, animal sacrifices involving a priesthood) and civil laws (like on how to manage farming etc.) and judicial laws (like regulating legal matters). There were a total of 613 Commands in the Old Testament Law of Moses. Some of these Laws are God's Eternal Moral Laws; Others are exclusively for Israel and do not apply to us. Believers today are under the New Testament (i.e. the New Covenant) with new laws (Which would include God's Eternal Moral Laws). Hebrews 7:12 says the Law has changed (along with the change of the priesthood).

Jesus did not come to abrogate God's Eternal Moral Laws (like do not murder, do not hate, do not commit adultery, do not steal, etc.). Jesus nailed to the cross those ordinances that were against us (like the Saturday Sabbath, the death penalty for disobeying God's laws, circumcision, the dietary laws, etc.) (See Colossians 2:14-17). Jesus says, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." (Matthew 5:17). So Jesus did not come to destroy all Law and it's consequences but He came to fulfill them into their true intended purpose with the commands given to us within the New Testament. These many commands in the NT are based on love. Love God and love your neighbor.

Side Note:

Speaking more on the Sabbath command: Well, the Sabbath command (from the OT) is a ceremonial Law and not a Moral Law. Nowhere do we see it commanded by Jesus or His followers that we must continue to keep the Saturday Sabbath command. In fact, Paul teaches that we are not to judge according to Sabbaths. So this means the Sabbath is no longer binding anymore. In other words, only 9 out of the 10 Commandments are still in effect; But there are more laws or commands given to us by Jesus and His followers than these 9 commands that have carried over into the New Testament. We are New Covenant believers and not Old Covenant believers. We follow Jesus and what His followers say. We are not Israel, but we are the church or body of Jesus Christ.

God has NOT written the Mosaic Law on the hearts of all!

Romans 2 (NASB)
14 For when Gentiles who do not have the (Mosaic) Law do instinctively the things of the Law,
these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves,
15 in that they show the WORK of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them,
16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of (ALL) men through Christ Jesus.

Hi Hank, thanks for your thoughts.

This is where many make their mistake because they do not read ALL of the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures. Indeed God's 10 Commandments were a part of what made up the OLD COVENANT but they were only a part of it not all of it.

The OLD COVENANT was made up of both God's 10 Commandments and the the prophetic Shadow laws for remission of sin from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT that pointed to Christ and God's plan of salvation. Let's look at the scriptures in detail...

The OLD COVENANT was made up of many sets of LAWS. These included God's LAW (10 Commandments) spoken and written by GOD himself to his people on two tables of stone and the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT written and spoken to God's people by MOSES containing the CIVIL, CEREMONIAL, ECCLESIASTICAL laws for forgiveness of sin and sin offerings for the SANCTUARY and PRIESTHOOD [Levitical].

EXODUS 24 [7] And he took the BOOK OF THE COVENANT, and read in the hearing of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient.

The Old Covenant included; The 10 Commandments and the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT...

1. GOD'S LAW (One scripture only as we already agree on this)

EXODUS 34 [28] And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the COVENANT, the TEN COMMANDMENTS.

and ...

2. THE MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT (Also part of the old covenant)

EXODUS 24 [7] And he took the BOOK OF THE COVENANT, and read in the hearing of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient.

DEUTERONOMY 31:26 [26] TAKE THIS BOOK OF THE LAW, and put it in the side of the ark of the COVENANT of the LORD your God, that it may be there FOR A WITNESS AGAINST THEE.

DEUTERONOMY 29:21 [21] And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, ACCORDING TO ALL THE CURSES OF THE COVENANT that are WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW.

EXODUS 24 [7], And he took the BOOK OF THE COVENANT, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient.

DEUTERONOMY 29 [21], And the LORD shall separate him to evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the COVENANT THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK OF THE LAW.

DEUTERONOMY 31 [26], Take this BOOK OF THE LAW, and put it in the SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.

2 KINGS 23 [2], And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and HE READ IN THEIR EARS ALL THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT which was found in the house of the LORD.

2 KINGS 23 [3], And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, TO PERFORM THE WORDS OF THIS COVENANT THAT WERE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK. And all the people stood to the COVENANT.

2 KINGS 23 [21], And the king commanded all the people, saying, KEEP THE PASSOVER OF THE LORD your God, AS IT IS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THIS COVENANT.

2 CHRONICLES 34 [30], And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and HE READ IN THEIR EARS ALL THE WORDS OF THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT that was found in the house of the LORD.

2 CHRONICLES 34 [31] And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, TO PERFORM THE WORDS OF THE COVENANT WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK.

...............

* Yep, the OLD COVENANT is not just the 10 Commandments it includes the prophetic SHADOW LAWS FROM THE MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT*

...............

HEBREWS 9:1 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. [9] Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] WHICH STOOD ONLY IN MEATS AND DRINKS, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[12] NEITHER BY THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES, BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

EPHESIANS 2 [15] HAVING ABOLISHED in his flesh the enmity, even the LAW OF COMMANDMENTS CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;[16] And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby

EZEKIEL 46 [14] And thou shalt prepare a meat offering for it every morning, the sixth part of an ephah, and the third part of an hin of oil, to temper with the fine flour; a MEAT OFFERING continually by a perpetual ORDINANCE unto the LORD.

NUMBERS 19 [2] This is the ORDINANCE OF THE LAW which the Lord hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

HEBREWS 10 [1] For THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with THOSE SACRIFICES WHICH THEY OFFERED YEAR BY YEAR continually make the comers thereunto perfect.[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.[4] For IT IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND OF GOATS SHOULD TAKE AWAY SINS.

What laws are written on the heart in the NEW COVENANT promise? It is not the MOSAIC laws for remission of sin...

JEREMIAH 31:31-34 [31], Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:[32], NOT ACCORDING TO THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt ; MY COVENANT WHICH THEY BROKE, although I was a husband unto them, says the LORD:[33], But THIS SHALL BE MY COVENANT THAT I SHALL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISREAL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR INWARD PARTS, AND I WILL WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE; [34], And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

2 CORINTHIANS 3 [2], You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: [3], Since you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, WRITTEN NOT WITH INK, BUT WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD; NOT IN TABLES OF STONE, BUT IN THE FLESHLY TABLES OF THE HEART. (see all of 2 COR 3)

The NEW COVENANT promise of LOVE is God's LAW (10 Commandments) written on the heart to LOVE through faith (HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10)

……………………………

CONCLUSION; Jesus did not come to change or destroy GOD'S LAW (10 Commandments). It is through GOD's LAW that we have a KNOLWEDGE of what SIN is. The sabbath is still to be kept. He came to fulfil what was written of Him in the books of the law and to END the Mosaic law for remission of SIN and the penalty of SIN in those who BELIEVE

yep it is the SHADOW laws that are fulfilled in Christ. The OLD COVENANT is made up of God's 10 Commandments and the Shadow laws in ORDINANCES from the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT.

You have your shadow laws mixed up with God's eternal LAW that give us a KNOWLEDGE of what sin is if broken. * ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; JAMES 2:11; 1 JOHN 3:4

Happy to share the purpose of God's LAW (10 Commandments) and the Shadow laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT in another post if your interested?

The old covenant was made obsolete, with a change in the high priest of a necessity there is a change in the law, the new covenant.

Heb 8:12 because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will remember no more;' --
Heb 8:13 in the saying `new,' He hath made the first old, and what doth become obsolete and is old is nigh disappearing.

Didn't Paul cover this at the council in Jerusalem? When the Jewish Christians wanted to enforce the ten commandments on the Gentile Christians. Paul said " Why place a burden on them that we ourselves were not able to bare". Seems that throughout the centuries churches have used the ten commandments as a rod to beat those who stumble rather than encouraging them to follow what Jesus said, "Love the lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. And love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets".

Jesus said: "It is finished" long before I was born. The work God does in our lives is a perfect work. The work for us is finished when we bear fruit at the Harvest. To be perfect means mature to bear fruit. If we do not bear fruit: Love, Joy, Peace and so on, then we are cut down and thrown into the fire. Of course the Love of God is most important, Love for ourself, Love for our Neighbor & Love for the God who Created us. Even we were created for worship and adoration: "that you may declare the Praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light".

Didn't Paul cover this at the council in Jerusalem?
I can assure you that Paul wants you to follow the 10 commandments. He wants you to know that. What he teaches is that we can not do this in the flesh, the commandments do not give us the power to follow them. Jesus does a work in our life and all power, glory and honor belongs to Him. God is perfect and He does a perfect work in our lives to perfect us. That means to be whole, and mature and to bear fruit worthy of repentance. Those who do not bear fruit are cut down and thrown into the Fire. Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control."

I have been to YouTube and I listen to some of the Rabbi's teach. It will confuse you. If people have trouble understanding Paul then how much more are we going to have trouble understanding people that want to convert you to the Jewish faith. Being Jewish does not save you. Being circumcised does not save you because it is a lesson to show us that our heart is to be circumcised before God.

God does a perfect work in us and His Word is perfect in and through us.

Jesus said, "Love the lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul. And love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets". If we do what Jesus said to do then we will do this by following the 10 commandments.

The Law is the course of salvation but not the source.

If you walk in the Spirit you do not walk after the flesh.

A Person who is said to practice sin is one who has yet to be forgiven and came to Christ.

You can either walk North or
South

Your mind is either set on the Spirit or set on pleasing the flesh.

If you walk in the Spirit you will uphold the law. For if the inside is clean the outside will be as well.

If you walk in the flesh you are still under the condemnation of the Law [death]

Example How the law is the course of salvation yet not the source.

I have given my son 50 dollars on Monday to mow the lawn, before he even does it. He has up until Saturday to do it. Monday goes by job not done.....is the money his to spend? Tuesday rolls by lawn still untouched. Can he spend the money now?..He doesn't know that it is His to spend until he walks in it, does the Job. By the end of Wednesday
he finished the job...Now he truly knows it's his to spend....because he lived up to its call.

The course of salvation is to keep the law....but we don't go about keeping the law by trying to keep the law. We go about upholding the law through Christ's Faithfulness. By faith in Him. He is the Source of salvation. The heart has to be made right then the outward deeds will be too. Therefore you do not try to keep the law by trying to remember what not to do...etc
But you uphold it by naturally walking in th way of righteous....if you are walking in the light you cannot be walking in the dark at the same time. You either walking North or south...the way you walk is the outcome you get.

Even the laws concerning sacrifice?

In Acts 18:18, Paul took a Nazarite vow, which involved making offerings (Numbers 6) and in Acts 21:20-24, Paul was on his way to pay for and join the purification rites of others who had untaken a similar vow in order to disprove false rumors that he was teaching against the Law and to show that he continued to live in obedience to it. In Hebrews 8:4, it speaks about offerings that were still being made in accordance with the Law. Furthermore, it says that Jesus would not be a priest if he were still on earth, and if the Law were no longer in effect, then it would have no power to do prevent that. So offerings did not stop with the death or resurrection of Jesus, but only stopped because of the destruction of the temple. However, the Bible prophesies a time when a third temple will be built and when offerings will resume (Ezekiel 44-46). In Daniel 9:27, it prophesies that the antichrist will put a stop to the daily offerings, which means that they must first resume between now and then.

What about circumcision?

In Acts 15:1, they were wanting to require all Gentiles to become circumcised in order to become saved, however, God never required all Gentiles to become circumcised and the reason that God required all Jews to become circumcised was not in order to become saved, so circumcision was being used for a man-made purpose that was contrary to the purposes of God. A ruling against something that God never required should not be taken as abolishing what God has commanded.

There are laws that have been abolished, because of the fact they have been fulfilled in Christ. And that includes the Sabbath day and the feast days.

To fulfill the Law means to cause God's Law to be obeyed as it should be. In Galatians 5:14, loving your neighbor fulfills the entire Law, so it refers to obeying it as it should be and to something that countless people have done, not to something unique that Christ did to abolish his eternal laws. In Galatians 6:2, bearing one another's burdens fulfills the Law of Christ, so it refers to obeying it as it should be, not to abolishing it. In Romans 15:18-19, Paul fulfilled the Gospel, which referred to bringing the Gentiles to full obedience in word and in deed, not to abolishing the Gospel.

God also made clean what once was a law against.

Acts 10:14-15 But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” 15 And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.”

It is significant that Paul didn't just say that he had never eaten anything that was unclean, but also added that he had never eaten anything that was common. Furthermore, it is also significant that God only rebuked Peter for his use of the word "common" and not his use of the word "unclean". In other words, Peter correctly identified the unclean animals as unclean and correctly declined to eat them in obedience to God's word, but incorrectly labeled the clean animals as common and incorrectly refused to eat them in disobedience to God's command to kill and eat. So his vision has nothing to do with a change in the status of unclean animals, but rather he interpreted his vision three times as being in regard to incorrectly labeling the Gentiles without mentioning eating unclean animals.

So his vision has nothing to do with a change in the status of unclean animals, but rather he interpreted his vision three times as being in regard to incorrectly labeling the Gentiles without mentioning eating unclean animals.

By showing that he cleansed the Gentiles, he stopped the law concerning EATING unclean meat. It was not an eternal law, but for a temporary purpose.

Leviticus 20:25-26 “You shall therefore distinguish between clean animals and unclean, between unclean birds and clean, and you shall not make yourselves abominable by beast or by bird, or by any kind of living thing that creeps on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean. And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine."

Noah was told he could eat anything that moved in Genesis 9. Even the animals didn't eat meat until after the flood. There was no distinction, except for sacrifice, but not for diet. It is no longer a sin against God to eat pork, or even rats. What is unhealthy is an entirely different matter, but it is not a sin. When Paul is talking about the body being the temple of God has nothing to do with food, as he plainly says, it had to do with sexual practices.

Just to add further to your good post, at ACTS.15:24-29, God exempted new Gentile Christians from any law of Moses which is a burden, eg circumcision and kosher foods. Morality laws like the 10 Commandments are not a burden for new Gentile Christians.

You may not need to sacrifice sheep, doves and bulls in order to be forgiven. In Hosea 6:6 (KJV), "For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."

I am supposed to obey commandments against murder, adultery, theft, false witness. I am supposed to seek knowledge of God. There are other interesting things one may learn by reading the law too:

Deuteronomy 22 (WEB)
22 You shall not see your brother’s ox or his sheep go astray, and hide yourself from them. You shall surely bring them again to your brother. 2 If your brother isn’t near to you, or if you don’t know him, then you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall be with you until your brother comes looking for it, and you shall restore it to him. 3 So you shall do with his donkey. So you shall do with his garment. So you shall do with every lost thing of your brother’s, which he has lost, and you have found. You may not hide yourself.

The first line is a bit jumbled. It might better read, "You shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep go astray and conceal them from him." The Bible is bit jumbled in places as it was written by men who lacked perfect knowledge. God sent Jesus to give us better teachings, not to keep us enslaved to superstition, myth and error.

A ruling against something that God never required should not be taken as abolishing what God has commanded.
To understand the Bible we need to know the meaning of words. Paul says circumcision of the flesh is of no value. The outward sign is not important. What is important is "circumcision of the heart in the spirit". Today in the Church we have either a child baptism or a dedication service where the whole church dedicates the child to God and they make a commitment to do all they can to raise and encourage the child to live the Christian life. What does it mean to live a Christian life? It means to follow the law of Love to love God love your neighbor and to love yourself. This requires your heart to be right before God. If we do not love God, love our neighbor and love ourself then circumcision of the flesh is of no religious or spiritual value. Although they still do circumcisions today because they feel there is a medical value.

The 10 commandments give us very practical application for how we are to love. For example we are not to commit adultery. We are not to sleep with our neighbors wife. Jesus tells us Matthew 5:19 "So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven." The issue is not as much in breaking a Commandment as it is to teach others to do the same or to set a bad example. Pastors and people in leadership are suppose to live their life as a good example for others.

Even though there are people that do not take the Priesthood of Aaron serious there are people today that claim their is even a higher level with the Melchizedek Priesthood. Yet Christ is even greater because He entered the Temple in Heaven with His own Blood.

Romans 2:29 "But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God".

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

INDEED that is where God's LAW is pointing us. The scripture however is not suggesting in any way that God's LAW is ABOLISHED as it was then disagree with so many scriptures in the NEW TESTAMENT

The GREEK word used for END of the law is τέλος means to set out for a definite point or goal or this is where God's LAW is leading you.

This is similar to PAUL's writings in GALATIANS

GALATIANS 3:24 [24] Therefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

This is where God's LAW is bringing us, we are all sinners in need of a Saviour. God's LAW leads us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.

Thanks for your thoughts and nice to meet you here

Jesus said this.

Mat. 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Paul said this.
Rom. 2:14,15
14) For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15) Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another)

I say this.
Gal. 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Therefore The Law has been applied unto us who believe.

So, Was the LAW abolished?..........NO!....It was Fulfilled and applied.

Goodness, I am so far behind on posting but nice post JIMINZ, thanks for sharing. I am trying to get my head around your post a little better so I understand what your saying. Are you saying that the 10 Commandments are not a requirement for Christians today or are they?

Thanks for your thoughts JIMINZ.

May God bless you as you seek him through his WORD.

Or, in a more simple view, No. The 10 Commandments were never abolished. What the 10 commandments did to a people who had done all the things He had created us to NOT do, was to identify what God considered to be a complete contradiction to His purpose of creating mankind. Look at each and think of how Israel had become after 400 years of living with and under the rule of Egypt. Upon being released from their influence God needed Israel to get back in line with his purposes so consider that for each Commandment the people were living and acting just the opposite of. Under Egypt they had adopted Gods from every walk and God needed them realigned with Him and Him only, just as He wants us aligned with Him and Him only. God did not pull any punches when He said that He was a jealous god and that included idols. Even of those that were thought to be of or for God in heaven God didn't want man focused on some material being because He was not material. Fire and flood could not destroy Him and furthermore, He did not want man even using His name in vain. Next, God recognized that the young mind which had no experience needed to take a back seat to the more experienced parents and in turn, the parents needed to be focused on the 10 commandments. To not murder recognized that God considered the life He created to be important and not for us to consider frivolous. Other commandments were focused on doing things on behalf of God to insure harmony in living as a community. And the bottom line is that if you can't see these commandments as being the way God set us up to insure we could live together, then you best take them as the rules God set in place and expected us to respect with our very lives.
  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.

Hi marineimaging, nice to meet you here. :)

Nice post. Yes when God's people entered the Land of Egypt and became slaves for 400 years they had pretty much forgotten a lot of the ways of God. I see this as a kind of Shadow in that Egypt to us today can represent God's people being in the World. God is calling us out of the World to have a closer walk with him. We need to be in the world but not of the World. Breaking all of God's Commandment is what those do who do not KNOW GOD (1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 John 3:3-10) It is OBEDIENCE by FAITH in God's WORD alone by walking in God's Spirit that shows the world that we are not of the World.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here marineimaging,

May God bless you as you seek him through his WORD.

Hi Ron, nice to see you again. Your post here is confusing. Are you saying that there are gentiles that have not sinned? This is against scripture which says.

ROMANS 3:10-18
[10], As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
[11], There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God.
[12], They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one.
[13], Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
[14], Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
[15], Their feet are swift to shed blood:
[16], Destruction and misery are in their ways:
[17], And the way of peace have they not known:
[18], There is no fear of God before their eyes.

ROMANS 3:23 [23] For ALL HAVE SINNED, and come short of the glory of God

This is pretty much all that anyone can do without BELIEVING is Jesus (the Word)
Then as we have faith everything changes...

ROMANS 3:31 [31], Do we then make void the law through faith? GOD FORBID: YES, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.

Yep none good unless they find Christ through faith. God's LAW is only establsihed through FAITH the works by LOVE in the heart of the BELIEVER because LOVE is the fulfilling (ESTABLISHING) of God's LAW in those who walk by faith. I think that is the message Paul is trying to get through in the scriptures you are quoting above. We are not righteous by the works of the law but by FAITH that works by LOVE.

Hope this helps
