The Union general Grant owned African slaves till the end of the civil war.
The Civil War was about import taxes more than anything.
Technically speaking both sides have killed people and hurt people over time now. Both sides are guilty. Maybe we should just send such groups to the moon so the rest of us who aren't far leaning (in either direction) can leave relatively peaceful lives.

But violent enough that the left should be condemning and dissociating from them - not ignoring them while demanding the right apologise for a handful of Nazis, and then apologise some more for good measure!
"But they're not as violent as the Nazis" is a really weak excuse.

Look...at any of these rallies, you know the makeup of the racist side of the equation....they are either Nazis or KKK or white supremacists. There are no "very fine people" in such a group.
On the other hand, the people who counter-protest them are varied in their opposition. Yes, there is an element that voice their opposition through violent means, but the vast majority do not.
And this has been the recurring theme in these discussions....'those protesting the racists are just as bad'. They simply aren't, no matter how much Trump and his apologists would like to portray it...
This is exactly what the community thinks. The community fought the criminal decision of the city council and won!
With their typical complaints about American culture, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "a lack of racial purity in the US".So, if the statue is staying and the park keeps its name, why were the Nazis and the KKK and the white supremacists there..?? What were they protesting about..?
