Ancient Latrine: A Peek into King Hezekiah’s Reforms in the Bible? - Biblical Archaeology Society

Archaeology found a ritually-desecrated Ba'al shrine in the main gate of ancient Lachish, per 2 Kings 10:27:

“Then they demolished the pillar of Baal, and destroyed the temple of Baal, and made it a latrine to this day”

 

[Quid est Veritas?]

I am a bit dissapointed that the latrine seems only to have been symbolic though.
In essence, they were wasting a full room then. Perhaps there was too much local opposition or superstition, for it to become a fully fledged latrine.

This is a great story!! Although I'll admit that my 1st thought was how many centuries have to pass by before you do not consider it disgusting to grab a toilet with your bare hands lol?
